I'm confident that comment is tongue in cheek (at least I hope so) because as you know sublimating dry ice in an un-ventilated area with living objects = death.

I have read that at the rate a couple of lbs of dry ice sublimates it's roughly equivalent to the amount ofof CO2 exhaled by a human. And even at higher quantities and rates it probably isn't a big problem for umpressurized cabins since some bush pilots fly with fish and game cooled by dry ice. Still, I wouldn't want to personnally test the math or the wisdom of a bush pilot by trying it myself.

I have purchased all the parts and think it will turn out pretty slick. Just haven't installed them yet.

I was looking at getting something like this and using standard tube mounts for it and having it behind the rear windowimage.jpg

I want mine to be completely out of the way and so found a way to mount it above the window without poking any holes. I bought one of these...

...and two rare earth magnets with around 75lbs pull each. I have already attached a piece of 1/16 mild steel (painted with chassis black) to the back of the light that matches the shape and is notched for the wires. I also used black silicone caulk to seal all the edges and the wire notch. The two magnets do a great job holding the light in place and I don't think there is any way for it to ever vibrate loose no matter how bad the washboards get.. Eventually I will tap the trailer plug and run wires to a cubby near where the Softopper pivot pin is located and install quick disconnect plugs. From there I will run the wire along the Softopper bars to above the rear window and install another pair of disconnects. Then stick the light on (steel backed light outside the canvas, magnets inside the canvas), run the wires through the velcro, and plug em in.

No more taco life for me
Scrolling through but I'm just going to ask as well

Can someone post some pics of the rails that the soft topper or bestop use.

Also curious if you can fold it up while it's not attached to the rails. Trying to figure out if it would work with my bed rack but if I had to close it, i imagine it would go up to high

I like that. I am toying with the idea of a flexible rope light for the exterior top of my Bestop. Still in the 'Hmmmmm' phase of it though..

The same shit everyone else has.
Id be interested in seeing this done. I have LED strip lights under the side rails, but I want more light higher up. This may be a solution

Just bought and received my Softopper last week.

I was unpacking and prepping all of the aluminum for powder coat/paint and was wondering if anyone else was a little unimpressed with the workmanship?

i.e. the holes that were drilled in some of the pipes were all wallowed out like they were drilled free hand and very sloppy.

The clamps for the rails came all scuffed and marked up with burrs rolled over around all the edges.

    Maybe just being picky idk.

I bought my topper used and have no complaints about quality.

The canvas and screens and what not look good. I'm sure everything snaps together fine just a little OCD I guess. I'll throw some pics up tomorrow so people can see what I'm seeing.
