I went through my entire suspension front to back and everything in-between. Adjusted brakes, new hanger bearing, greased, new shocks, springs, u-joints, re-torqued u bolts, etc...

    The clunk is still there!!!

I thought I had it remedied after new General HD springs, but that only seemed to last a few months.

I'm about to disconnect the rear driveshaft and roll around in 4wd with just the front engaged or weld my F'IN slip yolk solid!!

My insane hillbilly ass question is: Would welding my slip yolk cause the driveshaft to punch through the T-case or transmission?

I've noticed the problem is more pronounced when it's warm and the grease in the slip yolk is thin. It never did it this winter when it was cold.

I'm seriously at the end of my rope.

Slip joint shouldn't cause your axle wrap. Should make sure it actually is first though. Get a buddy to watch the axle while it happens.

Yeah did 2 in front of the axle for awhile, then 2 behind. Adding the 2 behind the axle really made it ride rough.

It was unpredictable over bumps as the overload spring was "solid" against the pack.

My new General HDs would ride really rough if I clamped the overload.

I've heard guys going with the Chevy springs with favorable results.

I just want to get it figured out makes the truck feel like a rickety piece of shit.

OP, perhaps you have tried this already. But, if you have a GoPro camera or access to one, mount it underneath, drive around a bit and see what's moving around. It's a shot but may be helpful. Good luck.

I have 185k on my 04 DC. Replaced the shocks/struts with Bilstein HD's, new moog front coils, new stock height rear leafs, and the trans mount... still had the famous clunk. Grabbed the leaf helper kit from AutoZone, painted them black, installed them and the clunk is 99.99999% gone. Between the hellwig rear sway bar and the leaf helpers she rides like a dream.
