Awe shiiit I popped the inspection cover off the 4Runner the other day and it looked tits. Speaking of 4runners I put a roof rack on today, pretty stoked on it! Found this guy on Instagram, $550 for it raw. So cheap considering the other options on the market, mounts up to factory hardware and everything! The fairing is a little janky but a Yakima one will work just fine, plus I can mount the RTT now without dying!

He's making one for 4th gens right now too, his IG is @outgearsolutions

You motherfuckers. I will have you know that had it not been for a leaky prop valve and rear case I would have driven it today. Also fuck you again I'm not going on the rubicon run this weekend so it's a touchy subject. Okay love you James and Rob :brianr:

Haha it's always you and your leaking rear, you really should get that looked at.

Um you have a much more capable vehicle to wheel the Rubicon with, it's in the pic in front of Leaks McGee.

Where is he located? Looks like the Gobi Rack. Does he also sell an insert for the sunroof too?

He's out of LA somewhere. He will make you whatever you want each rack is custom made to your order. He can do light bar tabs, and mounts for anything. I think my options were wind fairing, roof top tent bars, and expanded metal for the length to make mounting stuff easy. It was crazy he was done in like a week and was all worried I was going to be mad it took so long. Maybe I'm just patient but a week for custom parts from anyone is damn fast! It does look like he Gobi, but half the price (I think) I looked once and remember saying hell no!

I was thinking about picking one up actually. $1500 bucks for a new one though. But it's like.. roof rack or roof top tent or suspension or 33s, or fancy electric fridge/battery/fuse/ham.

$550 for a roof rack is definitely doable.

Definitely doable, get in while they are so cheap. I'm sure once they catch on the price will go up

Is anyone heading up North to Humboldt County from the Bay Area? I'm selling a front bumper to a TW member, seeing if anyone can take it up. Thanks

yeah, considering a gen2 Tacoma 4x4 only has like 1200 lb payload capacity, 225 lb driver (me), overweight wife, 300 lbs for my astronomy gear, 200 lbs of miscellaneous camping gear, 100 lbs of wife's luggage, blam, barely have room left for the 300 lbs of tongue weight of my little trailer. roof rack? nah, not much use. the rack itself likely weighs a chunk, as does all that other armor stuff you guyz bolt on, subtract all that from the 1200 lb payload before you start loading. oh and empty racks suck gas mileage at freeway+ speeds, don't forget.

Ha...I've debated getting one of those just for the look. Also debated going rackless but left it alone for the occasional snowboard hauling.
