I won't make it for takeover. I'm planning on sometime in the fall. Been pretty busy this year.

Hopefully I'll make it too. Want to really do the Big Dawgs fall crawl too.

And J0hnny5 finally got some new tires!

I knew this would be my best opportunity to paint the wheels without caring about over spray so I painted them with dupli color's graphite wheel paint.

Got the call from my buddy that my tires were in so I rushed over to get them mounted. I went with 315/75r15 Cooper S/T Maxx. I love them so far. Definitely takes a bit more to stop and get going but they are SO QUIET. Speedo is about 5 mph off right now according to an app I have.

Anywho here's the pics and direct comparisons with the old tires.

Right now I am rubbing the frame pretty hard at full lock. Also rubbing the plastic near the washer res but not the washer res itself yet. Going to borrow @V5ioV 's bigger wheel spacers and see how I look.

Haha you and me both. First gen's on 35's are sick. I do plan on making one but for now I don't plan on dealing with it until I have to. I have a big trip coming up at the end of the month so I gotta figure out the fender chop in the rear and the wheel BS before I deal with anything else.

Looking good man!!:bananadance: Have you trimmed the rear at all? It looks a little tight back there. Also, are you running wheel spacers?

No rear trim yet, gotta pull the bumper to do it so that's happening next week.

I am running 1.25" spider trax and picking up my buddies 2.25" bora's since I am rubbing the frame something nasty at full lock. Another next week project. Running out of time quickly to get it all wrapped up before a trip at the end of the month.

Sounds good. I cut 1.5" on the rear and still had to do some minor trimming on the bottom to clear when at full stuff (some self clearance in Moab was also involved :anonymous:). The bumper will definitely be the biggest thing to work around. Looking forward to the progress:thumbsup:

What BS are you at with your wheels and spacers? And damn everyone said 1" all around should be good, guess I need to go more. Once the bumper is pulled cutting the bedsides should be a quick job.

I actually cut 2" off the front and I think it's perfect. I think Tanner (stumpy) did ~1.75" (I notice you referenced his build a couple pages back), but everyone has a different suspension setup/different goal when going to 35s.

I'm at 2.25" bs right now. I have 3.5" bs steelies with 1.25" spidertrax. You'll be at ~2.5" with the stock wheels and 2.25" borlas (estimating on 4.75" bs for the wheels). I've never ran spacers that big so I don't have much input on the effects of them, though. If you can fork over the coin I'd suggest getting different wheels so you aren't putting so much stress on the cv's, although there will already be excess due to the larger tars :cookiemonster:

Yeah coin is tight right now so I am trying to work with what I got. That was the whole reason I even mounted them on the stock wheels haha The plan is eventually 3.5" f-5's but that's a way's away. If anything I have regearing, getting my AC fixed, and tundra brake swap way higher on the list.

And yeah I cut 2" off the front to be safe as well. I rather it match the front relatively well so maybe I will do 1.75" in the rear to be safe. Really want no rub at all if I can help it.

Whats wrong with the AC ? got some spare parts depending on whats wrong with yours. x2 on tundra brakes 231mm nothing else....still locks up 37s.

Also, is your rear springs sagging? may have a few misc spring leafs.

As far as I know the compressor locked up two winters ago. Not sure if the clutch or the compressor grenaded. Was burning the belt off when it happened though. Sometimes would engage sometimes would lock up so I pulled the belt. Rear springs are sagging but they are stock springs. Sold the Toyota ones for almost the same price as Dakar's so I am saving up to get that done hopefully soon. As far as brakes go I plan on getting the re-man callahans (13WL 231 mm's of course) they sell on Amazon. Can get the whole kit for $300. Seems like the best route to go, a lot of people are running that setup now with good results.

No :( not for a while anyway. Went on a trail (if you can even call it that) by my parents house. Stuffed it and saw how bad I need choppy choppy.

Finally got to chopping the rear fenders. Came out pretty good and went fast since I already went through it on the front. Took somewhere between 1.5" to 1.75" off the rear.

Tried to driveway flex and test clearance. Couldn't get it to compress to the bumps but the distance between the bump and top compared to tire and fender were pretty damn close. I should be alright I think. We'll see next week at Takeover. :p

Also had the cutoff wheel explode on me. Lesson here, wear your glasses kids! Left eye took the brunt of the hit, I've got bruises and swelling all around the eye it knicked on the glasses. Cheek was just a grazing I think.

Well of course I am a week away from the NTC Takeover trip and I am still rushing to get last minute shit done. The new tires threw another issue at me, frame rub. Rausch has some pretty tight trails and losing any turning radius will make the trip much less enjoyable. I am already running 1.25" spacers so what's needed to run stock tires and 35's is 2" spacers.

Really only a minimal increase but made all my frame rub go away. Some before and afters:

Got final front skid and rear diff measurements showing the height difference in 265/75r16 to 315/75r16:

Gained about 1.25" up front and nearly 2" in the rear.
