How is everyone doing? I finally bought an 07 Tacoma off-road rear locker, it had 92,000 miles on it when I purchased it five months ago .I really like it a lot . The previous owner took really good care of it.I put some nice beefy Michelin tires recently on it,however,I have one issue with it though.Im getting somewhat of a vibration at about 25 miles an hour on accelerating then it smoothes out once I get over 30 and it drives quite well after that. I went underneath and gave the driveshaft a good shake but it's tight as a banjo, had my wife Rev up the engine but didn't notice any motor mount problems. It does have one open recall on it for the leaf springs but I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.so far I have loaded my kayak in the back of it and it really tows it quite well.anyway, nice to be on this forum with other taco members, drop me a post and tell me what you think, thanks so much !!

Did the previous owner modify anything on the suspension? Namely the rear-end? I ask because I lifted mine and before the lift I had no vibrations and post-lift they appeared. Not terribly bad, but noticeable.

Also, I have read that vibes can occur on these trucks even without lift.

If the angle of the driveline is changed, it is possible for that to introduce some vibrations. I believe this is the cause of my vibes.

There are fixes for the vibrations, and I am having mine diagnosed tomorrow and I can share whether they disappear or not in the afternoon.

Welcome to TW. This place is a wealth of information about our trucks and also a serious drain to your bank account after you see all of the cool things that are possible to do to these trucks.

    Cheers!

All bone stock, that was the main reason why I bought it.

Were the new tires balanced correctly? There is an adapter that needs to be used as they are Lug Centric.

I actually took my tires a couple of days ago to discount tire to have them balanced and rotated, the vibration is still there, thanks for your reply!

Sounds like a tire balance issue...one might have slung a weight somewhere...

Could be the tires are not balanced? Since that is the only thing that is different about your truck from when you bought it.

Have the vibes been there since you bought it or did they just start? Or did they start after the new tars?

Someone who knows much more than I will likely come along and point you closer to a possible reason. That is all my brain is able to come up with thia morning.

    Good luck!!

"beefy" tires can be more prone to vibrations just due to the fact that they are a heavier construction then regular car tires. Also could be a brake drum slightly out of balance, or any of a number of other things that will cause a slight shake at certain speeds.
Does it track straight? Stop straight? Shake in the steering wheel or just a general buzz? My tire shop has told me they have had to sometimes balance O/R type tires multiple times to get them just right.

I understand you may have taken them for balacing but what I was pointing out that most places balance from the Hub, our trucks need an adapter that mounts the wheel by the lugs for balancing.

Do yourself a favor and Google Lug Centric Tire Balancing or even do a search on this forum.

I am at discount tire getting the tires lug balanced, let's see what happens, converted over to synthetic oil and I do notice my engine runs a little more quieter

Thanks for responding, I get a vibration rumble under 20 miles an hour, and when I come to a stop I get that knobby tire rumble

UPdate:went to discount tire twice to resolve the tire vibration issue, had it lug balanced, they recalibrated it,rebalanced it, same problem, then the manager gave these theories about "abs""sticky drum pads""warped rim"...sooooo,back to square one,so my first issue to fix will be the leaf spring recall then a brake pad change,Thanks guys for your input!
