Looks good!. Does the plastic engine cover not fit with the intake? how's it sound? Initial Impressions?

I was just following the chart at the 6k mark.

 

Overall I like it. I notice a definite increase in throttle response. It is quite loud however, especially if you're passing someone. I've had these intakes before, this one is louder than my previous ones.
The plastic cover fits on fine. I was just antsy to take the photo lol.

Well, color me wrong. I never thought a CAI would net any improvement on an modern vehicle.

 

It's all attitide. If you want to be there you'll be fine. I worked full time, reserved for a small FD and volunteered with the city i work with now while doing it and still managed to learn something lol.

Yeah I currently work as a Reserve Firefighter AEMT for a local department so I'll still keep my job and I'll be working part time at my current job through it. Getting rid of the truck allows me not to work as much so I can focus more on the class, or at least thats the plan lol. I can buy another truck but my career is more important even though the 21 year old me still regrets letting it go.

 

Congrats man! Literally in the same boat as you, work for a local FD as a reserve and will be quitting my other job on a private box for medic school in the fall. I have enough saved for payments and everything throughout school though, so I don't have to get rid of mine!

 

Thanks man and same to you! Good for you! I could have kept the truck but I like having some breathing room and this way I might be able to have a day or two off a week, currently I've been working 6 or 7 days every week between the two.

I didn't do anything to my truck today however my truck inspired this.. Painted my RTIC cup to match my truck!

 

I have a vibration in my truck. I typically feel it through the steering wheel but occasionally through the seat as well. It doesn't seem to be consistent. Happens around 50mph and is almost gone completely around 70mph or so. I have aftermarket wheels and tires on the truck and they've been balanced perfectly. It's an Off road, AC with 3800 miles on it. Not really taken off road enough to even talk about. Any ideas? I hate going to the dealer

 

I agree the dealer only likes to deal with something consistent. Do you have the correct bore size in your rims (106.1 mm). If not did you sleeve it. The lug nuts do not center these wheels. You can have a perfect balance and be out of balance if not centered on the hubs. Other than that check for any lost weights. Worst case check for fully lubed universal joints in the driveshaft(s).

 

Why is there no legend for that graph?
Is the slope lines on the top of each graphs the results with the K&N CAI installed?
The slope of the graph which shows 15hp higher delta on the top graph and the higher torque ft/lbs one on the bottom graph?
I'm surprised that an aftermarket CAI could give such a noticeably better performance gains to the truck. Isn't the factory intake a CAI as well from TRD?
Finally there is one truck in this long ass thread I have seen which has given us an actual performance mod. Good job.
(I am also curious to see if those with aftermarket headers seen any dyno tested improvements in their performance)

 

I was hoping that it's the universals. I heard that they come dry but I didn't know what the symptoms wound be if they needed to be lubricated. My wheels on the other hand I have no idea.... They are the Ultra Crushers and was told that they were made for Toyota's but I guess that really doesn't mean anything. All of the wheel weights are still in place and the lug nuts torqued properly. I tried to check what I could

 

A simple quick check of a front or rear tire can be done with a floor jack a pencil and some pieces of wood. Lift tire off ground. Block other tires. Put in neutral for rear tire. Block up and position a pencil point on the tread of tire. Slowly spin. If tire is not centered it will get farther or closer to the pencil while spinning. I strongly suggest you get the model number of your wheels and verify the bore size. If its bigger than 106.1 then you need to install an adapter to each wheel unless you have a receipt showing they were installed. Also maintain tire pressures used when they were freshly balanced. If they were installed with 35 psi and you are running 50 psi that could also show slight minimal off balance at certain speed ranges. Factory wheels/bores/hubs are self centered within less than .005". It is a critical dimension on wheels. Back in the 70's we used universal wheels with eccentric washers you rotated for your bolt pattern. You talk about a pain keeping balanced. They were horrible.

 

ah. well then that's just absolutely silly. And yes, I was wondering why the test wasn't done in 4th gear.
