I don't have part numbers but it's all stuff you could get off, say rockauto or straight from Toyota.

If your plan is for very mild offroading then no, don't do a solid axle. Just start collecting all the parts you need then when yoi have everything the swap will be pretty easy.

Make an account over at rocksolidtoys and start researching a guy named Ray's first build as he went from 2wd to 4wd with mostly factory stuff.

On a side note, my mom was offered 22k for her 2010 TRD OR that has almost 70k miles on it from the dealership. That can buy you a nice used 4wd.

Thanks for the info, so I'll start buying the parts as of today. So just to make sure I have everything that's needs to be ordered. I'll need my cross member modified when I order my parts, and the parts needed regardless of year correct? Here are the two routes please anyone chime in and let me know if I need anything more. Trying to order most of it at once for possible deals.

    Electronic route

    *4wd front diff 05-14 years
    *4wd front cv axles 05-14
    *4wd front driveshaft 05-14
    *4wd spindles 05-14
    *4wd Tacoma transfer case 05-14
    *4wd transmission 05-14
*4wd harness and Ecu- will try to get 2012-2014 because of possible electronic changes. How hard would all this be considering it should basically be plug and play right?

    Manual

    *4wd front diff 05-14 years
    *4wd front cv axles 05-14
    *4wd front driveshaft 05-14
    *4wd spindles 05-14
*Inchworm 2wd adapter so I keep my 2wd transmission and just run a manual shift FJ transfer case. This route worries me because of cutting up the 2014 console, unless it would come out looking clean.

Do these look right? Which route would you go? Thanks to everyone with the help.

The front diff will be electronic no matter what because of the actuator.

Pretty sure you're gonna need at least the front half of the rear driveshaft off a 4WD too, unless you have your current one shortened to account for the T-case. This will probably need to be done with the adapter in any case.

Also, if you go with the electronic option, you will need the 4WD selector knob and most likely the dash panel that houses it, though I'm not sure about that. The cut-out could be there with a blanking plate over it for all I know, but you'll definitely need the selector.

I'd definitely go with the manual FJ t-case regardless of if you do the adapter or not. I just don't like all that electronic crap. It's just more junk to fail when you need it. If there was a way to run manual hubs and get rid of the ADD BS, I'd do that too. Since you're buying all that stuff anyway, it might not be nearly as painful as replacing something you already had...assuming you can find a kit to do it. I recall reading an article on a manual hub mod a couple years ago, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Also, I think the year range would be 05-15, but I could be wrong about that. I usually am when it comes to 2nd Gens, haha.

I think I'm just going to buy a wrecked donor car and have it all swapped over. Even down to the 4wd selection knob on the dash. I just need to make sure that all the parts with be interchangeable if I happen to get something from models years 2005-2014. The front end could be dropped and swapped, maybe this would be the easiest route. 100% pull and replace part for part, I've found a wrecked older 2008 Tacoma. I think I can strike a good deal on it, then sell my low mileage parts to recoup most of my money back since I won't need them anyway. Can anyone confirm using an older model and swapping it all part for part? Seems as though you can with 2nd gens.

Buying a donor truck is definitely the best option, just never really see a complete one very often, especially 4wd. It seems like 99%of tacomas were prerunners.

This is true, that truck already sold dammit. Well I tried to get ahold of RST gave them my info and waiting for a call. There FJ cruiser TC online shows none in stock and I feel safer buying one they build then going junkyard. Quality over quantity and going cheap

I'm pretty sure he gets them from a junkyard.

I want to say I priced a FJ case from Toyota years ago and it was north of $2k.

Make sure you document everything and make a thread, then people will have better information if they decide to do a conversion.

    What up Tampa Bayers!

Does anyone have any recommendations for body work? I work in Hillsborough and live in Hernando (north), and can go anywhere in between.
