OP, try driving your truck around in S6 or S5 and gives us your impression of the differences you notice.

You do realize there are many threads about 3rd Gens having transmission issues right? About not shifting smooth, etc?

If you're going to quit Toyota just because it was 3/4 QT low and the fill bolt didn't move I hope you never have a problem with another vehicle again... cause everyone's crap stinks... :crapstorm:

Ah thank you. I was iffy of where the clutch is for the automatic transmissions. I'm more of a manual guy myself.

Settle down everyone. I believe the latest fill tool that dealers have utilizes the over flow port to adjust fluid level.... If I have a chance, I'll stop by my dealer and snap a picture.

Here is the latest fluid adjustment tool. It does still fill through the side port... But like the old fill tool I have, it uses a nice screw in adapter w/ O ring seal, so this could be a maybe on if they added fluid. image.jpgimage.jpg

Adding fluid as normal through the fill plug is simple enough for the avg. Joe. Having a lift would make it even easier. I guess I am not seeing what the purpose of this tool is other than doing the job faster which, is reasonable enough but what does that have to do with the 3rd gen AT?

I don't know about you guys, but when I filled my tranny, I could NOT see the fill plug...feel it only.. (I'm lying under it of course).
If I can't see it...I cannot mark it....

You likely have to have a hoist and I'm not too sure what you will see cuz that fill plug is in such a tight spot...

Anyone see their fill plug good enough to mark and then inspect it..?? Just asking cuz I cannot.....!!

2WD people have it much easier. The housing just necks down to the prop shaft instead of going into a transfer case... makes for a whole lot more room!

Yup 2wd not too bad, i saw it, huge bolt with a big W i think it was. But hey, all i can do is keep taking it in. They'll keep noting my file. I'm pretty upset about my time wasted of having to go in so many times, but im sure they don't care.

Just pointing out that they can do this task easily and w/ little evidence showing that they were in there.

It's possible, the check bolt was touch with much evidence. The fill bolt with none. Doesn't sound right. But like many of you have mentioned, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt now, and jusy keep taking it in for issues time and time again.
