What prompted your dealer to call you? Was it only for this issue out of the blue?

    Thanks for the info.

Interested if it helps the truck upshift again once a hill has been crested in CC.

(waiting for the post where you show up and your service manage says "whoops, this software update is only for the 4cyl, sorry about that")

sure they dont have it confused with the 4cyl. I thought there has already been one for that truck and it seems to get confused alot with the v6 from the service guys

LOL, I have a long history with my service manager since I bought the truck. I've had many, many, repairs and he's on a first name basis with me and calls me every couple weeks to check in on the truck. I gave him a great review and we have always been more than nice to each other during this entire process. There are still some issues we are working on to get lined out. I posted that this was coming a few weeks ago and got flamed because no one believed me and I have no TSB number.

So as usual, he's a man of his word and let me know as soon as it was available.

Ya, I'm hoping for some real improvements. My luck, it'll make it run worse and give me 10 mpg from now on.

Your service guy is better then mine. My truck was at the shop Tuesday and Wednesday. I asked them to check the transmission fluid, which they didn't, due to some erratic shifting I had on a recent 3 hour trip. Said he was looking for TSB on all my issues and was coming up empty handed.

Sounds promising but I won't believe anything is official until I hear out of the horse's mouth. No offense, OP.

Trans flashes are real!!! I got mine done already and downshifts like it should. I got mine flashed back in 2010.

    It's dejavu! History repeats itself!

I'm sorely tempted to make a Bruce Jenner joke about this thread, but 'flashing' the tranmission has been a thing since shortly after they put a computer in charge of running it. :notsure:

Hopefully it makes a difference for you, OP.

It's not the technology that is newsworthy... It's that Toyota is admitting a fault and is releasing a fix for it. That's the news! My post was just sarcasm. :D

I would like to know this also. When I took my truck in to another dealership other than where I bought my truck, I asked them about it in May and they didn't know anything about the flash for the transmission on the 2.7

Ah. Sarcasm light on my computer must be broken.
    :redxfall:

You'd be surprised, though. When I worked as a service writer half of the people thought that I was bullsh*tting them when I told them that they should have their transmission computer reflashed at the dealership when they were having mystery shifting issues

Are they just flashing your ECU as in clearing it out? They did this to mine and I cannot really tell any improvement. I am still getting shift flare and erratic downshifts. There are no "Updates" for the transmission software at this time based on my inquiries.
