    That's a horrible way to spread knowledge. I read that thread awhile ago when I was deciding on a diff drop, and IIRC that dude hit the nubs in his skid plate going like 25 mph while racing or something.

    I wheel regularly about once a month (just some light to moderate stuff) and have a diff drop. Absolutely no problem at all. On a factory skid like us mid level folks, it still is protected because the skid still covers it.

    The "factory skid" is actually refered to by Toyota as a "splash guard". I'd try not to skid on that too much...

    I have yet to read of anyone needing to replace a diff due to having a diff drop. So far all I have seen is speculation.

    None of that matters nearly as much as reducing your CV angle by a whole degree or two. CVS are way more expensive than a diff. (Said very sarcastically).

    Yeah, that was the thread that was shown earlier. That guy have a poorly designed skid and he was racing when it happened. For Joe Shmoe who only does light to moderate wheeling, I believe a diff drop is beneficial.

    EDIT: And obviously I'm biased because that describes me :anonymous:
