Did this last Sunday (18th) on my much-needed day of rest.

    Started out with this:

After about 3.5-4 hours of cutting ended up with this:

But the saw and I were both out of gas at that point so I finished the day off by stacking instead.

And that left me with this for when I get some more saw gas.

But right now all of my spare time is going into a front suspension/brake rebuild on my '69 so I can have it for the holiday weekend, so the woodpile's on hold for the moment.

    Same, and same.
This stuff's been sitting in 4-foot lengths since last summer, though, and it was originally cut last spring so it's not green at least. I'll start splitting it soon and that'll give it plenty of time to finish seasoning by the time October rolls around.

    Edit-
But, I split with my .22's so working through the season's wood is usually a couple of weeks of off & on work.

You don't split it before you stack it ?

Not when I need to move the whole pile of 4-footers out of the way to make room to build a woodshed, lol.

Yeah, making more work for myself. I've been using one of those car tents for a woodshed the last couple of years but I want something more permanent. Last year I stuck those 4-footers there because it got them out of the way for when I plowed. But, that's where I'm putting my 'real' woodshed, for the same reason. So now the 4-footers are in the way, haha! So the idea is to section everything up stove-length to help it dry some more, get it out of the way, and build the woodshed. Then I can start splitting and just move the splits into the shed as I go. Not ideal, but I'm on something of a time crunch because summertime is just too full of projects.

Yeah, they're already end-checking on the stuff I sectioned to stove-length. But, they lost quite a bit of water weight as 4-footers over the winter. I hefted them into place by hand, and they were a hell of a lot heavier last fall than they were when I was dragging them out of the pile to section them up.

I need all this wildfire weather to quit so I can actually head to the mountains and cut some more oak. My wood yard is nowhere near as full as I'd like it to be.

Needed to dig out the chainsaw today and buck up a few of the long rounds and knock out the saw split ugly pile and thats when I realized I hadn't run my saw in 2 years because I didn't cut any firewood last year AND discovered I had left it 3/4 full of 2 year old gas which is strange because I always run my gas tools dry before storing them for winter but I guess I must have forgot

Anyways , dumped out the old shitty gas , put in some fresh stuff , added some bar oil and lubed the tip sprocket and 10 pulls later we're up and logging

    I love this old saw

Got it all done . Closest 2 bays are mostly fir and a bit of cedar I can burn this year , far 2 bays are madrone and a tiny bit of cyrpress that won't be ready for at least another year , and the pile in the foreground is the rest of the madrone and a bit of plum that will go in the bays the fir is in when I move it to the house woodshed in the fall , again not ready for at least another season

About 8 cords all together there

    Yay

It's got a dirty word written on the bar, though...

    :stirthepot:

Even though they're basically the same saw now...
