Seems only a small percentage of Tacoma owners I've talked to have even heard of Tacoma World...

I own a Harley Davidson Streetglide that I think is awesome....But over on HDForums.com people bash the heck out of any issue they have....

I think most folks just want their voice to be heard on issues they have with their vehicles so you will typically hear the worst...Especially since most of us spend hard earned $$$ on them every month.

OK, so you'd trust the Salesman? Toyota? Magazines? Where else are you going to find informed opinions and reported issues if you ignore the largest source of information found anywhere? I'd look at any source with some skepticism but where there is smoke is likely fire. The head in the sand approach doesn't work for me.

Trust me, these internet forums distort the truth. The only way to really know is to drive the crap out of the truck for a week, but it's hard to pull that off :).

Also, again, don't forget there's plenty of (quiet) people on this forum that havn't had any issues with their 2016s

I think a lot of what you're seeing is that you have so many third gen Tacoma owners in one space. One thing to keep in mind is that the people up here having issues with their third gens are spread out throughout the country. There are many more Tacoma owners that are not on TW. Having a site to go to kinda amplifies complaints.

Well then just why don't you go your way and buy your Honda instead of trying to convince everybody else here your right ? What's the point other than wasting energy at this point ? I just hope they remember to put the snap rings in the engine like they forgot to in the civics.

i was maybe 70/30 for him saying we were the problem

the g2 had growing pains too... long tsb list. and, lambo's explode with a $200k cost of entry.

and again; there's no perfect car. but the gripes are absolutely valid --- its just becoming a bit clusterfuck of a discussion.

FYI.....I too had a 2010 and for the 6 yrs that I owned it, never had any issues what so ever. In December I purchased the 2016 and have not regretted it. The reason why I traded the 2010 for the 2016 was the interior upgrade and the newer technology. I admit the transmission took time to get use to it but I'm fine with it now. I did have the ATF checked and it didn't need any. The transmission does shift more often but that's because it's 6 speeds IMO. FWIW, I'm 67 yrs old and owned Tacomas since 1997. Im not a fanboy but I do enjoy the 2016 and not looking back.

Today I went in for an oil change on my Lexus - at a Toyota dealer that's always done a great job.

One of the service writers told a Highlander customer that it shares the same frame with the 4Runner..... So confident I decided not to embarrass her.

Moral of the story. Dealer personnel should be shunned when gathering opinions, you're right.

    Thank you TW folks,

I do feel a lot better buying a 2017 Tacoma. The fishbowl of complaints here magnifies the issues and creates the impression that everyone is having issues. Lots have said they are happy.

Secondly and perhaps more importantly; out of 106 replies and more than 2,800 views, I only added to two people to my ignore list. That my friends is evidence of civil and mostly helpful input. It's not often you can listen to 100 folks and conclude only a few are jackasses.

    Thanks All,

    Gregg
