Absolutely. The road we went out on is just a dirt road. Nothing sketchy about it. We intentionally went the long way to get there though. LOL

A guy made that trip in his factory 1st Gen Tundra (sans bumper) with some fairly sketchy tires. But he also didn't care about breaking anything.

I did monument peak in my stock tundra and ended up destroying the skid plate and steps. Someday I will go back once I have real sliders and true under body protection. It made me a bit shy about where I take my new Taco while it still smells new. Although I stripped it up a little bit over by Lincoln this weekend ;)

I was sitting in my truck at Resslers oil change place watching the guy take a hammer to the factory skid plate in order to get it back on. Not a great skid plate for a truck called a Rock Warrior. 327718_684135595059_43802102_35299162_93791785_o.jpg

Yeah. The factory skid is basically a tin plate. It's like bolting a cookie sheet to your truck. There's nothing armor like about it. All the off-road aftermarket steel skids are 3/16" plate steel. LOL Makes a difference!

I live in the Flathead and know that stretch fairly well. PM me and let me know what you're looking to do. I'll have some suggestions.

@ccallen I'm out of Missoula, we should get together for some trail riding sometime, I'm always trying to find new spots and trails. Played around by Maxville a couple weeks ago, some of cooler terrain I've been in (big time bear country) and can get more technical than most of the stuff closer to Missoula - lots of old mining claims. And not a forest service gate in sight all day!

Unfortunately truck is in the shop at the moment, smoked a deer on 4th of July driving back from the Flathead.

@58 Siesta Would you be down to go play around up Wild Bill one of these weekends? I was up there around the 4th, cool spot, wish I had known of it a long time ago. Would be nice to ride it with someone who knows the area a little better, I was limited on maps and spare time.

Sure! I'd be up for a Wild Bill cruise. There isn't much my truck will do in there - or at least, not much I'm willing to do to my truck. I've still only seen half of it myself...

I've been looking through the 4x4 Routes of Western Montana book, and you guys down south have WAY more good driving than we do!

Yes, Deer Lodge. Are those rock rails or plastic body? If rock rails then NO PROBLEM. If they are plastic...problem. It has a couple spots that will rub the bottom side a little I think. Anyway...there are always a few extra seats. You can ride with Daryl....then you will REALLY appreciate the 4-Runner's ride. lol And, of course, I will have a seat in the mall crawler too.

Oh yes...that one would be just fine. So would Skyline. I will try to remember you would like to go. :) Our biggest problem is many trips don't get planned very early but will try. We will likely be doing Hay Canyon or Skyline next Saturday. We have a lady bringing her rig over from Washington and we are to show her a trail or two next Saturday.
