so a local member wanted a retro, here is what i came up w/ (all the idea credit goes to ElectronMan)! still need to mount shroud and close them up, but you get the idea!

i will redoing my retro now as well. i will be doing the same thing, but will be adding leveling motors so that i can adjust the cutoff height from a switch in the dash, just in case im hauling something and the rear sags.

also, i feel comfortable to do this for others, so email me at tacomaleds (at) gmail.com if your interested (all proceeds will go to my spindle/tire fund!!)...

    Progress pics:

yep, OEM lights, but BHLM'd the lights, and used a clear blinker lense the member found.

the back will look just like ElectronMan's. again, his post really encouraged me to redo my retro as i love those gatling dun shrouds and the didnt fit w/ my TLs. also, i picked up some level motors and switch for cheap, so i figured, why not redo it!!

i'll do another post when they are finished so all can see the finished product.

i wish i had the money right now so you could do this for me..... damn

    what projectors are you using?

i like the leveling motors idea. there's an actual OEM Toyota switch from the Siennas that will fit in the Tacoma switch slots. That would be awesome if you could get that switch to work.

FX-R projectors are being used. yea, the 03+ celica's have a switch as well, just didnt want to pay $60 from the dealer for it though...know any place to get that sienna switch for cheap? i dont see any reason why that switch wouldnt work either. the switch just has resistors in it that changes the voltage to the motor.

when it comes to the FX-R projectors, what is the difference between LHD and RHD?

do you sit on the left or right when you drive?:D LHD = left hand drive, RHD = right hand drive.

basically, the cutoff step is reversed for RHD vehicles (cause they are wierd...!) as they need the step up to the left to see the road signs.

How are you planning to mount the motor? All the ones i've seen all would have to be mounted on the outside of the light.

yep, it would be mounted outside the light. i got some s2000 motors, but they are the same ones used in the celica and most likely many others. the motors have a screw just like the OEM adjusters (same length and everything!), its just a matter of securely mounting the motors.
