Hello guys hoping somebody can help me out. I got my Cali raised led ditch lights coming tommorrow this is the first time I'm going to attempt to wire it myself. My question is my harness is coming with a relay. I have no idea what it is but I've been told to use it. Where is a good place to put the relay? Truck is a 08 Tacoma Trd sport

A relay is an electronic switch that can withstand higher currents (like an LED bar) so a smaller physical switch can be used by you. When you turn on your switch, it tells the relay to turn on which in turn allows electricity to flow to the lightbar.

Edit: wiring harness should have everything you need to hook up the bar, the relay/ harness will go where it naturally fits depending on where you put the bar and switch.

My relays had a tab with a hole, if a factory screw was near and acceptable, I used it, if not then zip tie to something close.

There's a threaded factory hole right behind your fuse box under the hood that can be used.

Sorry I'm a mechanic in another industry, just figured you'd know your fuse box is behind your battery under the hood. Another thread said it's an 8mm x 125/pitch bolt that fits those 2 holes. You'll also have to snake the switch wire through a large boot in the firewall into the cab. Take your time and write down the colors and positions of the wires before disassembling that connector. The pins are barbed and can be pushed out and put back together once you get the wire through the firewall.
