RCD 4.5" or Pro comp 6"(basic kit)

I am starting to save up for a new lift have like $1000 from christmas and working. I was wondering for those of you that have RCD or pro comp lift how you like it and to post pics. I know there is a thread for 6" lifted trucks but it'd be nice to have it all in this thread to compare. Thanks for the help!

Can't alter poll but another option would be toytec ultimate kit, tell me what you think of just getting ultimate kit?

 

The RCD is $2100, if you want to you can save up a couple hundred more and get the Pro comp stage 2, that would be what I would do. Either kit is good, but if you are debating the 2, you get 2" inches of lift for a couple hundred.

 

Why get the RCD 4.5" if it is a drop bracket kit anyway. It will still require you to cut the crossmember most likely. I say if your cutting anyway you may as well go 6".

You can still get 4" of lift out of other kits without cutting anything. I have 4" out of my Camburgs without preloading the springs or hurting the CV angles.

 

in theory you can get better ground clearance with the rcd lift and 6 inch coil-overs, but the less expensive option to get 6 inches of lift would be the pro-comp--thats how im going to go

 

yea you do still have to cut the crossmember. and i agree to go 6 inch



how are your cvs not hurt at 4 inches?

 

well I should have clarified with "not to bad". Of course it affects the angles but it isnt extreme at all. Not enough that I am worried about it. If I do go back and add the Fabtech 6" on top of what i have, the drop bracket should put them back near perfect im thinking. I want to add that and now 35s or bigger to achieve a 9-10" lift overall. I just hate the thought of cutting that crossmember.

 

I think the CV's are damn near flat on the RCD.

 

Thats because it is a drop bracket lift and still ONLY 4.5" You will actually lose ground clearance with that type of lift albeit maybe only an inch or two so the CVs should stay flat. Thats what a drop bracket kit does.

 

I'd go with a Fabtech if you're going the full 6'', otherwise I'd go with the RCD.

 

I have to agree with that statement as far as 6" goes.

 

thanks for the help! i know the pro comp is cheaper but i dont have the money for a set of 35s plus im not sure if i want to go that high. would love to get the rcd 4.5 but its so expensive. I know im kind of changing up my thread but you think i should bet a new rear bumper and just hold off on the lift? i do have a big dent in my stock bumper(thanks to my dad).

 

armortech makes a badass rear bumper. Kevin can customize it however you want and at a fair price.

 

I went with the procomp stage one, it`s not installed yet, but I decided to go with the procomp , because I want to run the Icon 6'-7" coilovers upfront.

You should be happy with the Pro Comp 6". I've had no issues.

 

Remember that you also have to think about the wear and tear that the 6" lift will cause to the steering components. The RCD has lighter spidles compared to fabtech. RCD's are 35lbs and fabtech's are 50lbs. Add this along with a 35" tire and the weight will make your components wear quicker unless you modify them. RCD will clear 33" without any rubbing or trimming. It all depends on how you want your truck. Good luck!

Can't happen. The spindles are too big and do not provide enough clearance for the front driveshafts. In fact I think the new spindles block em completely.

 

m not exactly sure who you are talking to but I certainly didnt say I had spindles. I have a Camburg coil over system that is adjustable beyond 4" if needed.
