Last week I thought I went backpacking. All I did was go on a mosquito feeding trip...

Pretty much the same up here...
Over the 4th it got so bad I gave up at the campfire and took refuge in the RTT. But the buzzing!!! There was like 2 dozen of those little bastards clinging to the mesh of the door trying to get at me! :goingcrazy:

Thermacell works. And they make them in all sorts of sizes and some even pull dual duty and act as lanterns.

WoolX is running a 12% off coupon right now. Use HOTJULY to save on your entire order. Expires randomly. Time for me to get my base layers.

I have a few of their t shirts, and they are the best outdoor shirt I've ever owned. Better wicking and comfort than any synthetic out there, and no stink! I'm ordering their beanie and their heavyweight long sleeve pullover this week to replace a fleece mid layer.

Shipped, and tracking shows it gets here tomorrow :) Well, that pressure is off. Time to finalize my 6 day meal plan and start fitting it all into the bear canisters. 2 new wool shirts are on the way, new heavyweight long sleeve wool shirt on the way, and new wool beanie. Now to decide if I want to pull the trigger on a new lighter tent before this trip. Got my eye on the North Face FP Mica FL2 which would cut my current tent weight virtually in half and still be a completely free-standing tent.

I was able to find an IceBreaker TechLite for $37 on Amazon. Was tempted to buy one onMassdrop but I hate how long it takes to get stuff from them. Still 5.5 weeks until my trip and I'm getting anxious.

The MSR Hubba Hubba NX is the same weight and is a very popular, very good freestanding tent and is only a little more.

I'm also eyeballing the North Face Triarch 2. Same dims as the HH NX2, and weight looks almost identical.

...aaaand I just ordered the Hubba Hubba NX and the footprint. The reviews everywhere sold me. Saved on tax and shipping, and a little off the price, by going through Amazon instead of REI or others.

I did, extensively, and had it in my top 3. However it was quickly eliminated because of the single door entry/exit. My wife requires her own door/vestibule so we aren't climbing over each other. Also, it's not a true freestanding model, which is a really important detail for me.

 I've been very pleased with my V1 Hubba Hubba over many years of truck/bike camping.

It will definitely be better than the 6# beast from Cabela's that I hauled last year. It's a great tent, but fully loaded with poles/stakes/ground tarp, it was silly to carry. Bulky in the pack, too.

Wish they weren't so proud of their stuff.

Mosquito coils and sticks (like from Coghlin) are the same active ingredient that is on Thermacell matts. I think I'll try those first.

Great tent, just a bit more expensive. They lost me a little at the narrower foot area, since we carry rectangular pads. The CS2 did get points for lighter overall packed weight though. I actually had the Copper Spur in 2 different shopping carts at one point.
