so my 16 trd sport mt is in the shop for a creaky clutch pedal and i got a 16 sr v6 at for a loaner. only driven about 20 miles in the loaner, but it is night and day difference in a few ways:
-slightly gutless. maybe transmission, but im thinking different rear end is causing majority of feeling. i did find myself speeding the whole time unintentionally and dont think it is due to the power, more like at the same engine speeds im used to im going faster now.
-very low rpm cruising. id never go down the road cruising at 1200rpm, but that seems to be where this truck wants to be. slightest input on throttle and the truck is shifting. usually smooth, sometimes borderline erratically.

i am now more understanding of some gripes on here. transmission doesnt feel great, feels much like many small econo cars. unfortunately this feeling is becoming more common as manufacturers try to eek out every last mpg possible. and this truck most definitely feels less powerful than my mt. i was impressed with the difference in the screens between the 2 trucks. i love my big fancy sleek screen, but wish they went with a less glossy screen like the sr has. so much easier on the eyes

I appreciate reading this. More anecdotal evidence that the 2.7L 5MT is a steal for those who don't tow/haul and just want a fun adventure ride.

Tell us what they do to fix your creaky clutch pedal... After about 10K I'm noticing it a bit.. not all the time but when is REAL hot and humid I'm feeling it. Reminds me a lot of my Honda when the clutch master cylinder was taking a dump it would creak and kept getting harder and harder to push until one day I pushed the clutch in and the pedal never returned... that sucked. I replaced my own but that was real easy... no so on this truck - I've got a Sport TRD and I think the clutch master cylinder is part of the power steering unit???

My 1st Gen had a creaky clutch pedal I brought it in several times they lubed it and it helped for a while then it started up again. Finally they replaced the clutch pedal assembly bushings and it worked. It sounded like a spring scrunching noise.

Anecdotal in what way? OP is comparing AT and MT int he 6cyl engines? No mention of 4cyl anywhere. And you can only tow 3,500lbs with the 2.7L. Not that impressive.

Why would you not cruise at 1200rpm?

Just feels too low in the power band. Maybe because my last vehicle was a rx8 that was happiest above 7k but really anything below 1500 rpm just feels bogged down when accelerating.

I brought up tsb on 2005-15 tacoma clutch pedal assy because i was having similar symptoms and the diagram appeared to be of very similar parts. I was told the 16's come with the tsb's upgraded assy but my was simply missing lubrication on the pivot bushing. It was lubed and issue gone... for now. Skeptical because i know grease has a lifespan and multiple spray lubes didnt help at all

The squeaky clutch never ever goes away. Lube and it works for a week or two then back at it again. But it still beat an automatic all day every day

Tried lithium grease, ptfe teflon lube, and about 6 penetrating oils and didnt do much to help. Thinking too light. Wish i knew more about what was done but the dealership is an incompetent bunch of folks hense field tech coming in just to lube

clutch master cylinder.. no amount of lube will fix it when it starts to take a dump. Been there

Just over 4k miles and mine is making tons of noise. Hot and humid may be the catalyst but my second gen did it too even after a master cyl replacement. I plan on bring it up for my 5k service along with everything else.

I am guessing it is a bushing but will find out soon.
