So I was finishing installing a new pioneer stereo and lost the small metal piece that fits into my vent select knob. Now the knob won't stay on tight. Any quick fixes or suggestions on finding a part?!

Love the choice in your music selection ....maybe a little bit of silicone or something similar? Then again hope your don't want to remove the knob again :notsure:. Or buy a new one. Think there like $10 bucks.

Wrap the nub with a small piece of electrical tape.

The metal thing looks like it's still attached to the nub in your picture

Yeah just a TINY dab of silicone. Or butyl rubber even. Or electrical tape. There shouldn't be any metal piece in the knob itself iirc.

Whatever you do, don't use superglue!! PO apparently squeezed literally half a tube in mine. I was pulling and yanking with pliers and everything. Finally got it off but it stripped the metal rod somehow and now it free spins a full half a turn before it can be switched. So the knob now doesn't sit inside, just loosely. Stuck with that because I sure ain't getting a whole new unit.

There is a metal sleeve that actual fits inside the knob itself. The electrical tape advice worked for me.

I had mine off over the weekend. If I remember correctly, there were metal sleeves inside two of them. Is it possible one of the sleeves fell out?

I got an HVAC unit at LKQ for $40 or $50 instead paying the dealer price. They have them on E bay also for around the same price. I used it to switch the front of it when I was doing the LED bulb swap on my 04 Tacoma. Since the OEM HVAC face has orange behind it and I wanted to install Blue LEDs. So I got an HVAC unit from a 02 SR5 4Runner. Which has a clear backing. Granted it's not new it had all the parts I needed including the metal clips
