Just had the TSB completed and here's what i'm noticing so far (only 6 miles)
    - Shift from P > D: slight improvement. Don't have to hold the brake down hard for the truck not to lurch, but does still bump a bit if i'm not holding the brake.
    - Previously, when at a stop (in gear) and easing on the gas, there was hesitation and a bump once the gear caught. This is no longer the case.
    - Shifting through gears seems much better. Previously, it would constantly shift to a higher gear and created a lag feeling. I would say its somewhere between ECT and where it was before.
    - Previously, when coming up to a stop, there was a hard down shift with a clunk into 2nd. Seems better but need to drive it more to figure this out as it wasn't always every time

Overall, it does seem better particularly once on the go. I'll have a chance to try cruise control and some hills later. Going to still have someone check the ATF level (even though the dealer said they did a few days ago).

I took my truck into the dealer today and they told me the TSB is not released yet. Is there any way that could be true? Maybe released to some larger dealers and not others?

My service rep asked the head tech to find out. Said they usually hear about these from the customer and not Toyota. I've seen other posts in here from people that said it took a couple of calls before the dealer found the TSB.

I contacted my service representative this morning and he had loaded T-SB-0077-16 on the vehicle he was proved by the dealership to try and understand the different problems associated with the Tacoma. He indicated it corrected the issues with the ones identified. I took my truck in this morning and had the fix installed and now I can say it is 100 percent better. It actually changes gears as you would expect. I am finally happy with the trans issue. My other concerns are the brake vibration issue and the drive shaft vibration issue. I have been told there is a TSB in process of being developed for the drive shaft. The brake issue has not been addressed. Will have to wait and see what happens.

If you're referring to the gear hunting problem on climbs then this TSB doesn't claim to remedy it. I'm referring to the continuous upshift/downshift loop that happens when it prematurely upshifts on a climb causing it to lose speed and then it immediately downshifts again and you get stuck in this loop. Seems like it'd be straightforward to improve the software by just turning off the Atkinson mode and the urge to upshift when the engine is under load.
Even though the TSB doesn't state that it adresses the above issue, I wonder if it still might. This could be an overall tranny upgrade that masquerades as a fix to a minor issue.

Surprise surprise! Mine’s on the list but no issues here. (Whew!) DZ5BN

But as I’ve been saying when I first posted about this problem, nothing’s wrong with the transmission or ATF lvl, it’s in the software.
I do hope you haven’t overfilled your transmission by now or introduced contaminants in the attempt to fill/check it as you may continue to have problems.
Moreover, some small/minute number may still have problems as all makes/model have, but over all, everything’s gonna be alright and the ’16 will be revered as all the others when the '17 comes out.
Enjoy your truck! (I hope) :/
    Cheers!

I noticed pistol pete has a 2010 tacoma in his sig, maybe that is why the tsb ends in 10? Where as the 2016 tacomas tsb end in 16?

Does pistol pete know this is for 3rd gen tacomas? 2016+?

Unless he has a 2010 and a 2016 and just hasn't listed it.

Honestly, I didn't pay that much attention because I was playing with my new remote start and was excited to try the tranny out on the road. I gave the TSB number from this thread (showed it from on my phone) to the accessories rep that set up my appointment. When I picked it up he said that they reflashed it.

Oh, i don't see that. Just says vehicle: 10 prerunner sr5 trd sport

So you have a 2016 then? If that is the case, not sure why the tsb number is off then...maybe just entered it wrong?

Probably just entered wrong :notsure: He definitely didn't say they replaced my ECU, that would be crazy with less than 500 miles on the truck.
