No doubt I'd rather see some racing for the win, but depending how a race works out you're gonna see a fuel run; it could happen on any race. A repave with a hard compound tire despite cautions caused a fuel mileage race, no one saw it coming.


The fact that Paul Wolfe and Keselowski pulled off that upset of a fuel mileage race where most drivers were pitting 3 laps before the end is telling, they are in to win, they could've easily finished 13th or worse but Kes saved enough fuel to do what he did and it's amazing really. I'm still in shock at what happened.

 

I mean it wasn't a mystery or anything, Truex had a much better car than everyone else, but a car alone doesn't win the race, that's what makes this sport so fascinating.

 

I don't know if it was the strategy or what, but that #2 shot through the leaders like a cannon on the final restart, built up a 3+ second lead and had all the guys chasing hard on that final run, making them lose focus on saving fuel, then that amazing J/K at the end. Great stuff!

 

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will miss the Sprint Cup race this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway because of concussion-like symptoms. He will be replaced by Alex Bowman, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Earnhardt, who missed two races in 2012 because of a concussion, has had two wrecks in a three-race stretch from June 19 to July 2.

Long-game strategy to attain a waiver for CHASE eligibility?

 

Soooooo, how many drivers does the CHASE playoff accept now (Jesus, it's almost as ridiculous as bowl games)?

Of the current top 10, 12, 16, 20, etc., who do you think has a legitimate chance of winning it all? I think you'd be hard pressed to bet against the current top-4 of Harvick, Keselowski, Kurt Busch, and Carl Edwards. I don't think Hamlin, Kenseth, Johnson, Truex, Logano and others have demonstrated true brute force yet. Granted, Kenseth and Johnson are great season closers, so they might be sandbagging a bit through Summer.

At lunch I watched the K&N Pro Series race at Stateline, That was a close one. I like watching Nascar in 1 hr segments.

 

They just said during qualifying Gordon would run the 88 at Indy if Jr. can't return. Excellent Hendrick team call. I enjoyed him as a commentator for FS1. Hate the NBC coverage!!

 

I personally hated gordons announcing...

 

That's funny, I hated him as a driver. For Apr Fools one year I put one of his Tag holders on my Dad's truck. Never lived that one down!

You know they do he was they're Golden Boy. To me he is one of the few drivers to have made the transition to announcing successful. I enjoy the ex-crew Chiefs more than the other drivers who have tried or are trying.

 

Problem with Gordon is he always says the stupidest shit about wrecks. He defends whoever's fault it is..

 

Yea he does. As in "It was just a racing thing" or some other driver Prima-Dona crap. Exception was when it was him that got F'd.

He would be fine except for that, but the way he does that just kills me. Usually when he starts all that I yell shut up at the TV among other obscenities

 

Easy solution to y'all's woes: I haven't listened to the actual TV color commentary in years. Just pull up goprn.com or mrn.com and tune into the best commentary live from around the track. If you have a scanner and are near the track, you can get the raw feed and hear what they're saying off air too. That's the best stuff because they don't hold back.

 

A solution I'd like, let Hermie Sadler run the show!
