Anybody know why Bilsteinlifts website says you must use OME front shocks versus using bilsteins? Seems odd considering the website name.

What are you referencing? Is it saying to only use OME shocks with OME coils?

I can't say for sure because it's a first gen, but with the second gens, a lot of people (including myself) run OME coils with Bilstein 5100s.

I had planned on buying a set of 881s and 5100s for my 2000. Now I'm wondering if should just go with OME up front. Some people are saying the ride is pretty rough compared to billies.

I honestly couldn't tell you, so I'll bow out and let someone with first hand experience chime in here.

That website is a seller, selling a lot of different brands (despite the name). They are simply saying OME coils require OME shocks... which is true.

So installing OME 881s onto Bilstein 5100s is a bad idea? Nitrochargers better / safer?

I don't know really, OME wants their shocks with their coils... I don't know many people that run 5100 up front with OME coils on first gens.

He was asking a question, not proclaiming an absolute truth. Instead of a rant maybe you can help him.

Okay I got my piss on if you caught it (deleted it as it was directed at the wrong person)

5100s and OME 881s pair great together.
If you want details I can get into it

Good to know... down the road maybe I'll look at 5100s as replacements up front.

I have no problem saying I was wrong. I did not read the post clear and thought it was another member who was saying OME with OME good, OME with 5100 bad.

    Sorry

Haha!! I'm gone for two minutes watching CNN and I guess I missed out on something. I did some more reading. Looks like 5100s are fine with OME 881s. Maybe they're saying it because it's more money in their pockets. A hundred bucks is a hundred bucks!

You most certainly can use OME coils with 5100 shocks. I ran them for a while on my 1st gen after initially running the eibachs/ 5100s. The eibachs were wayyy too stiff for a 4cyl access cab, even with full armor. The 881s rode a ton better

Just a reference for you, I've read a lot about these 2 different shocks. The Bilstein is a monotube shock, and will perform better off-road, but it is stiff. The OME is a twin tube design and will fade quicker then the 5100, but the ride is much better.

PM sent, but you hit the nail on the head.
You will see this a lot on here, pretty frustrating.

Keep that PM in mind and watch posts on here, very much a marketing thing.
