Modern turbos are pretty damn efficient when you lay off the skinny pedal, even when modded. I'd suspect she would lose little to no MPGS after tuning if she kept a light foot.

There are a lot of tunes that can help with MPG and still make it go like stink (as long as you go easy on the skinny pedal)

The good thing about a turbo is that just cruising they aren't doing anything, the engine is basically NA. Then once you stomp on the go pedal it kicks in and kills your gas mileage but raises the fun

She has a lead foot. I've got a standing $20 bet with her that she has a speeding ticket before the year is out with this new car.

No, replace it with Trex John. Trust me. Built my pool deck with the stuff 5 yrs ago and zero maintainence, plus it doesn't get slippery.

I just went into my center console for something and saw the new serpentine belt I bought last week. Reminded me to tell the story.

I went to PA last Sunday. Saturday evening before that I thought I should change my serpentine belt. Truck is at 103k and it is original as far as I know. Don't want that snapping on me four hours from home. So, while I wanted a dealer belt it was too late for that and I got a Dayco from Advance. Noticed it felt like plastic compared to the original one, but figured a lot of that is because the original was worn. Took the old one off, spun the idlers to see if they were all okay and put the new belt on.

Drove to PA the next day, everything going fine, turned around and headed back on the highway to come home. 15 minutes in I hear a squeak noise, didn't think much of it. Few seconds after that battery light is on, voltage is dropping, coolant temp is rising, A/C light is flashing. I know exactly what that is. Was right next to an exit, so I got off the highway and popped the hood. The belt was totally shredded, mostly wrapped around the fan at this point. Can't go far like that, mainly because you have no water pump. I figure I could have made it quite a few miles without an alternator if the pump was driven by the timing chain instead.

Long story short, I managed to get another belt from an Advance out there and someone was kind enough to let me change it in their driveway. This second Dayco belt is doing fine, but I did get a dealer belt and the quality feels much better. Debating on swapping it and keeping this one as a spare or just waiting for this one to blow up first.

Moral of the story: having tools in your truck is a very good thing. I would have been out of luck or would have had a much worse time without the sockets, ratchet, cutting pliers, and breaker bar.

Second moral: Non-Toyota parts can be junk. That Dayco belt lasted 300 miles when the original was still going strong at 103,000. I'd bet it had some sort of manufacturing flaw I didn't notice and that made it let go quickly.

Third moral: If you change a belt just before a long trip, throw the old one in the truck. I don't know why I didn't. That would have saved me a lot of time.
