First off, let me say thank you for your service. I get all "fuckery" in here, but you're right, I don't know what it's like to be shot at (nor do I want to find out!). Second, did I thank you for your service? In NO way did I mean any disrespect in that respect. You can ask any mother fucker in here...I'm the most patriotic dude on the planet...again, thanks for your service, brother...

Now, back to the tomfoolery and to answer your questions:

I used to do all groups twice a week. I separated them into push and pull.

Day 1: Push day (chest/shoulders/triceps)
Day 2: Pull Day (back/bicep). I did legs this day too.
Day 3: Cardio/abs/rest
Day 4: Push Day
Day 5: Pull Day


that was in college. It seemed to work well, and I continued it when I started my career, but eliminated the rest day. I noticed I hit a LOT of plateau's this way.

Since, I switched to 3 days a week (only my off days of work). I do:
Day 1: Chest/legs
Day 2: back/bicep/abs
Day 3:shoulders/triceps

Each of these workouts lasts about 2 hours. I started using an intra-workout to keep energy levels up through the second half of it.

I actually noticed more size AND strength with one day dedicated to the muscle group instead of two. Perhaps it was overworking with the 5 day weeks. Also, on push days, one group would suffer sacrafices. IE if I did chest first, I wouldn't be able to military press as much on shoulders due to fatigue and vice versa. With a dedicated day, I am able to push myself much more for each muscle group.

I do the major group first. On back day, that comes first. I hit 3-4 bicep exercises at the end, but they get a good workout from all the pulling back exercises anyway. Same for triceps with shoulder day.

I do cardio sporadically. As long as I keep my mile time around 7:30, I'm happy. I do it once a week at best, but usually every other week. I just get so BORED running! If I am feeling particularly motivated, I'll squeeze a second leg day in before my first shift of the week.

 

I am, by no means, the most qualified...

haha totally didnt mean for any of that to come off as angry! It was poker night last night so I finally got to have some drinks, and naturally I had to check the ole' TW before bed. So I read that about the cardio and I hate cardio as much as the next guy and a thing some friend and I hung up in our office was a top 10 reason list to workout/be fit and the number 1 item was "Harder to kill" and the cardio thing made me think of it for some reason. I feel really bad now! BUT I do appreciate the sincerity and all service members appreciate the support, no matter what branch or MOS. (although items A, B, and C are true, and I will not answer your A haha )
