Any idea if the moonroof will become a seperate option? I would like a SR5 with a moonroof.

Yea, I wanted SR5 so I can do what I want. Me being 6'2, didn't want a moonroof. Even my wife said, moonroof in truck, really? I had one in my Mazda 6, but living in hot ass Texas I rarely used it. I think if I lived out west I'd want one.

Still can't understand it to save my life. I see dumbasses with top down trying to look bad ass. Even with a/c blasting, you get out with wet ass and back.

It has one. Just drop the tailgate and have a seat. Enjoy the view!

Never could understand why anybody would cut a hole through a weather barrier. I'll never own anything with a hole in the roof.

Well, I have never understood why anyone would buy a black truck. But that's the wonderful thing about choice.

Sorry if this question has already been asked. Does the window slide side to side, or is it like the one in the Tundras?

Trust me you are over thinking this and there is no need for it. That is like saying I don't understand why someone would buy a red truck. Stop trying to understand it and just go with the flow.

No enough room for it to be the tundra style, it will be side to side.

Wasn't talking to you. That comment was in response to his snark about a moonroof earlier in the thread.

page 148 of the 2017 manual says it slides from side to side. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2017-tacoma-manual.443566/

I'm glad, I'd hate to lose the storage space underneath.

I won't go top-down at temps over 92F. Convertibles in Texas are best for winter or summer evening drives. However, I'm not certain it is fair to assume I'm trying to look badass if you see me top-down. I might just be trying to experience wind/sun after being holed up in the life-squandering fluorescent prison known as the office.

Interesting convertible discussion. FWIW, I actually own a convertible weekend-er ('66 Mustang), and I've also lived in California by the ocean (30 years) and in Texas (8 years). IMO, convertibles are great in SoCal. I never used to put my top up. Ever. In North Texas, they are pretty much useless. We get maybe 3 months of decent weather each year. I do have have the power moonroof in my taco and love it. Any time the weather is between 63 and 87 (again, which isn't very often). I pop that thing wide open.

Texas is definitely not the best place for a convertible. I'll be the first to admit that. Dad got me hooked on roadsters as a kid and I just love them (partly for the memories). I make due down here in west Austin with trips around Lake Travis and a few curvy roads to the southwest.

I lived in Houston previously. That was really a horrible place to own a convertible because of the extra humidity and the lack of curvy rural roads (corners are few and far between).

I generally keep the cover on the Tacoma sunroof open all the time except mid-day. I rarely actually open the sunroof. If the weather is that nice, I'm in the convertible.
