So I was driving from Sarasota to savanna and when I was getting off interstate it shattered. It is a 2016 with less than 5k.

Jesus... sorry to hear that man!

Can't say I've had any issues with the sunroof. I did lose a T-Top off my Camaro about a year ago so I know your pain. :(

Nope. But warranty and/or full glass insurance should cover it.

Have seen at least 2 or 3 complaints of it here on the forum but it's been awhile since I've seen them. Try search function.

I was looking @ Sienna's and found a thread relating to your issue, apparently several folks have sustained this trauma. https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/vinLookup * put your vin# in and see if anyone else suffered the same. Apparently Toyota doesn't want to own it. Sorry it is all in caps at that web site
SummaryI WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY (95 DEGREES OUTSIDE) WITH THE SUNROOF CLOSED AND I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD AND NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME. THE INTERIOR TEMPERATURE OF THE VEHICLE WAS SET AT 68 DEGREES. I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, I REALIZED THAT THE GLASS IN THE SUNROOF OVER THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I PULLED THE COVER CLOSED TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY GLASS FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT I CLEARLY HAD SOMETHING HIT IT; I EXPLAINED THE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND WAS STILL TOLD SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT IT. UPON RETURNING HOME, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS OF WINDOWS SPONTANEOUSLY "EXPLODING".

Sorry to hear that dude. I've heard from an insider that installs dealer items, and he warn me of some issues. Hope you have a garage until repair
    Cheers!

Did you have the sun roof tinted? If so that may have been the cause. My dealership will not do the sun roof for that reason. Talked to a good tint shop and was going to have them do it and they said the same thing because it's a smaller glass, they said big glass expanses don't have the problem and they have seen this happen before, but would do it if I wanted to do it.

I've heard the same, don't know how true it is or what the facts are, but perhaps someone with tint knowledge can open a thread or enlighten us with facts on this subject.
    Cheers

Yes the sunroof was tinted. It was tinted when I bought it from my dealership. The good news is it is being fixed. The Toyota dealer here in savanna looked at it and said they have never seen anything like this before but they will take care of it. We didn't want to ruin our vacation so we had them tape it up really good and we are going to keep driving. And have it fixed on the way back home. Wish us luck!

    Yea t
