Crossed the El Paso Mountains in California. Lots of history to experience.

El Paso Mountains. Great route for High Clearance 2 Wheel Drive vehicles. Head East on Last Chance Canyon Road from the 14 (EP15). Holly Ash Pumice Mine soon be on your right.... 20160709_110517.jpg 20160709_111050.jpg 20160709_114433.jpg 20160709_120723.jpg 20160709_162523.jpg 20160709_171558.jpg

I have no problem getting into 4lo. My main questions was about the locker. I am not trying to go fast with the locker engaged, but I thought I read somewhere that the locker limits you to something silly like 3-5 mph. But in normal wheeling situations with 4lo in 2nd gear (MT) you are still going faster than 3-5 mph.

it is suggested to limit your driving to 3-5mph with the locker by Toyota

the fastest ive gone with it is 45 and on woops. same goes for my buddy with a 2 wheel locked. ran for more than 3 hrs over 15+ mpg and no problems what so ever. if u have 4wd the book says you can go upwards of 65 in 4high

but we can't lock our diff in 2hi or 4hi. We can only lock in 4lo so we have to go slow anyway. There is currently no locker anytime mod for the OR 4x4

I am not trying to go out and get crazy with the locker on. It would mostly be used to get out of a sticky situation, but being limited to such a low mph would definitely hinder the ability in those situations.

This is just the dirt road up to the top of White Top Mountain in VA. Still fun to drive up there if you are in the area! Very fast elevation climb up over 5000ft.

Lockers don't limit gear change. You can drive with lockers on in 6th gear if you wanted to... you are just limited by 4lo of 2.57:1 transfer gears.

Took the Tacoma up to Leavitt lake for a three day camping and fishing . Five miles of easy dirt road with one section that was a little challenging after a creek bed crossing. I tried out the various 4lo settings like the MTS and Crawl control systems, although annoyingly noisy it was quite effective. The BAMF rock sliders did their job, I slid a little off line and made light contact with a large boulder which no doubt kept me from hitting the rocker. A little black rattle can spray to keep rust at bay and they're ready for the next time be it a rock or more like a parking lot door ding. At 9,500' the Tacoma still did well climbing up the pass loaded with camp gear and dog.. IMG_0153.jpg IMG_0154.jpg IMG_0158.jpg IMG_0170.jpg IMG_0187.jpg IMG_0193.jpg

I just drove over Sonora Pass last Thursday coming home from Yosemite. It was pitch black dark out so I couldn't see anything but it looked like a nice area to go back to explore. Definitely remote though- from Pinecrest to 395 I only saw 2 other cars.

Khane pass Moab. Went with several FJ's. Pure insanity. Never wanted to turn around so many times in my life. Good people with more experience were awesome.
