    my stock airbox is all broken up. wondering about aftermarket intakes. k&n is a little steep. any ideas? thanks

    i think the K&N is worth the money i love mine, def gives you a little boost for hills and the sound is great but it is a oiled one but they claim they only need to be oiled after 100,000 miles and i've put about 7k on mine and it still looks like it did the day i got it

    The K&N type filters dont filter well. No CAI except a couple (TRD & URD) give any real gain. So....What are you wanting from one?

    allpro trail armor, allpro 3inch lift, 33 1250 ssr, k&n intake, flowmaster exhaust, mile marker 9500, 4.88 yukon gears spartan lunch box in the front detroit in the rear,procomp 55w lights, mild port work.
    k&n are open filters if you wheel your truck or drive down a dirt road they get dirty quick i would look into an inclosed intake valont, injen make some nice ones from what i here i have a K&N on my 1st gen and have to clean it once a month

    I believe you can get a TRD intake from ebay fairly cheap, I think $250 shipped if I remember correctly.

    Search it... but basically you cut a 3-5 inch circular hole in your airbox and install a deckplate from a boat... leave the plate out when you want, seal it back up when you don't want water, mud, etc. in it...

    they are all steep....

    only cheap option is junkyard for OEM replacement, or search the various tacoma forums for anyone selling theirs...

    you can find them for around $50 on the boards but maybe cheaper at a junkyard?

    My K&N gets pretty dirty. Do a stock for sure with the mod mentioned above and a AFE dry replacement filter. I believe they make it for the 1st gen.

    i guess over the years the plastic got brittle and wheeling finally took its toll on it and snapped it in half...
