Hey guys! Myself and hubby are going on a weekend-long trip this weekend. I am having a canopy installed on Wednesday, before the big trip in order to be able to sleep under it comfortably. My issue is this: I have a plan made up for a basic sleeping platform (that I can take down myself, due to health issues), with the opportunity to build upon it (versus starting from scratch), to get us started out. My husband claims that I am not listening to what he wants ( which is the same, but in larger pieces that I can't move myself), and I should just wait for him to do it...? I've had years of home remodeling, and am phenomenal with the geometrics of things. I KNOW I CAN DO THIS! But I feel he has zero trust/faith/confidence in me, call it whatever you will, in completing this project.

My main question, to put it bluntly, is: What should I do? Should I do what I want with my truck and 'prove' that I am correct? Or should I wait, like a helpless damsel-in-distress, for him to do it?

Maybe find a way to get him excited about it, sketch up your idea and do the project together?

And it sounds like your idea is good, and I would be happy if my wife wanted to build something. I've come to realize that most men need a good woman to push them through a project

Do what's good for the marriage. Its a challange to stay married as is today. Then you add stupid arguments on top of that self-destruct it . You will not remember years from now. Save the arguing for when something big will happen. Nitpicking kills marriage and is the worst thing a guy hates to hear

You're fine. Wives never listen to what husbands want, so it's all good!
It's your truck so you get to do what you want. That's how things work.
Besides, if you don't like it, you can always change it.
I always let my wife do the space planning, as she is far better at it than I, even WITH my degree in Physics. I swear, the woman can pack the truck so you can't slide a sheet of paper in sideways!
Buy him a sixer, put him in a chair, and let him watch you work your magic.
Send pics when you are done!

Edit; my wife read the post an says you should just dump the body and be done with it. Hubby problem solved! Told you she's smart.

Honest communication always helps in marriage disagreements. I would ask him to give you the opportunity to take on the project with your vision. Its important in a relationship to express your ideas and point of views. If it doesnt work out you can always go with the second method.

I know as husbands we can be stubborn and hard headed but we cant say "no" when you use your girly charm and talk about it in a calm and genuine manner.
    ;)

Take highway 20 across the top of the state and make the trek longer. I'm about an hour south of highway 20. I work for ADT security and drive a lot. I got a brand new van 4 weeks ago and have 3000 miles on it now. I've been driving about 35-40 thousand miles per year.

I am trying to find a new job, and hopefully sooner than later, and the new job will be either mon-fri or 4x10 somewhere in the traditional work week. If the new job happens, I may be able to make the journey across the state to hang out. I'd hope to find a patch of dry grass to sleep on as I wouldn't want to drive home that night, assuming I can make it.

Install the stock dakkars and send me the extra leaves for my set of dakkars

Design and build it yourself. It is your truck (what's his is hers and what's hers is hers). Make it work for what you can handle without him. If you need extra framing/supports to make smaller pieces that you can move around on your own, that is a small price to pay. In our house, I am usually the one to design and build things in or around the house, and that is 10 acres with 12 animal children.
