They are not plug and play. I didn't utilize the daisy chain extension but I would suggest it if you don't have any spare wire. You only need less than 5 ft to run from driver to pass side.

The one downfall of an aftermarket tonneau, is that other items, such as voodoo's bed rack, etc will be made to work with the OEM stuff...i have a bakflip F1 which limits options for some of the things i want to do.

My first post on the forum. Took delivery of my new Tacoma on Monday. I had been looking and looking for this exact truck and after about 6 months of looking it fell into my lap at a dealer on the north side of town. I called the dealer and was in the door 30 minutes later. New car sales manager was an ass, "we don't negotiate on Tacomas". I asked for the GM and ended up paying invoice. I guess from reviewing the forum that isn't too bad. Bottom line is got the truck I want and I paid an amount I was happy with paying.

    image.jpg

First mod, tonneau cover. The truck was not factory equipped with a cover, but I have always had one on my trucks due to my expensive gear I sometimes transport. While I was waiting for my dealer to finalize my truck for delivery I was chatting with a customer in the service area. He mentioned he had bought a Limited last week and was in having the tonneau removed so he could have his camper installed. I asked what he was going to do with the cover and he said he would probably end up laying it in the back of his garage to gather dust. I asked what he wanted for it and he said he would take $325, nice, half price. I went to the GM and told him about our new agreement and he had the service guys swap the cover off the guy's Limited and onto my new Tacoma.

I read a few hundred pages on the forum and I can't remember who first posted this hint about the tailgate key fitting perfectly in the center console pen holder. Bonus points for this advice, it is perfect. I also place the keys for my spare lock on the key to keep everything in one spot.

    image.jpg

I ordered the OEM mats and the bed mat off of Amazon. Once they started showing up, the wife knew what was coming. It was just like with both of my FJs, piece by piece, item by item. I'll have all my goodies installed.

    image.jpg

Last step in my newbie's mods was to add the vinyl letters to the tailgate. On the quicksand Tacoma, it is just a must do. I'll be going full blackout as the time goes by, but this was just step one in the exterior transformation.

Now I will get my factory steps power coated in black and then see where I go from there.

Thanks for all the great ideas and directions. I was a long time FJ forum member and I enjoy the tone and support I find on Toyota forums.

I went in to get a paint protection wrap done and couldn't resist the carbon fiber wrap. Tell me what you think. My buddies in El Monte did a clean job, going back next week to do some more CF.

Good luck man! It's a blast, and nowhere near as hard as people make it out to be. You definitely get out of it what you put into it.

Nary a squat! Looks good Corey.

I got out and drove mine to town this morning after it sat for the last 5 days. Going into town again 1st thing in the morning to wash and spray a little wax on her.

Thank you! I think the ones who complain how hard it is are the ones who don't put a lot of effort into studying.
