Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I'll add you, too. Takes a special kinda guy to keep coming back to an enthusiast forum after you've stopped being an enthusiast of that particular topic.

Yes you can buy a half ton for the same price and even cheaper actually with all the rebates they offer on them. But the reason I went with the Tacoma is because for 1.. this is my third Toyota truck. 2.. Anything bigger wouldn't fit in my garage! I hate when people ask what I pay and they say " well I got my chevy-ford-dodge for less than that and I can tow blah blah blah blah.." I didn't buy the truck so I can pull some heavy shit. I could give a shit less about that its not my style!! And I always say to them " well lets see where your truck is at when you hit 100,000 or even 50,000 miles and we'll see whose truck has more issues.."

Sorry for the rant. Some people just don't understand our love for these damn expensive mid size trucks.

One thing people fail to realize with the F150 is the incentives at certain times to buy them. Usually you can get an XLT for close to 6k off. Almost no one pays full sticker here for an f150 and most are usually 1-2k under MSRP.

This is my dilemma. I work for an automotive group. I work out of one of our ford stores so I will get D-plan pricing with ford. Toyota offers nothing unless your a factory employee. Sure I can get a new Tacoma for $100 over dealer invoice, but it's not that much in savings. Where the Tacoma really stands tall is the resale. I know down the road if I ever want to sell or trade it in I may pull out close to even on the thing. My f150 which is pristine lost 20k of value in 3 years. pretty pathetic. Pretty much my same features in a new F150 will bump it up another 4K MSRP. So this is something to consider for myself. I've been kinda spoiled in this truck which is pretty loaded. Any jump down to a Tacoma truly is going to be a down grade

That being said my lease isn't up until September. I did drive a SR access cab 2.7. I didn't like it at all. I know it much just be the set up and it was a base work truck, but I didn't like the way I sat in the vehicle either. In another month or so I'll swing over to our Toyota store and test a OR and a Sport. Might take one home just to get a better perspective. I didn't like the feel of the second gens either, and they aren't much of a change with the seating position and stuff. I owned a 1st Gen and love that truck. Wish I never sold it, as I know I would still have it today. Was looking at buying a 09-10 Tacoma but instead got a frontier as I like how it rode better and the interior was nicer in my opinion once Nissan did the refresh. Also it was cheaper and had a factory spray liner and bed extender and the rail system was a lot better. So that's where I currently am. Looking for something new. I like the changes and updates on the new Tacomas and I don't have a problem going back to aMidsize. It was more fun in the snow :D I don't let all the nay Sayers here effect my overall opinion of these trucks. Although I will say I think Toyota has been lacking with the quality control of their plants here in North America, I've owned a few toyotas and never had any major issues. They still are a top manufacturer in my personal opinion. Although when I'm ready to buy in September in hoping the 2017's hit the lot and I can snag one if my choice is a Tacoma.

Well I told you guys I drove a friends brand new 2016 SR5 Tacoma. It had a big clunk going into 2 gear. (Auto). I told him about what I read/knew so he took it in at 450 miles. Needs a new transmission but they are on back order and no we aren't going to give you a loaner. XXXXXX of Plano. (TX) Sounds like great service.

Bullshit. I just got rid of my '16 2.7 XLT and love my Taco. My ford was shimmering, stalled on me multiple times, dealer said they couldn't find anything. Ford: school bus, good 'ol boy, no personality, a lot of little men driving big trucks.

IDK where ford came into this. If you read a little more apparently it a common issue.

Not really. That design is pretty new. GM actually had a reason for sticking with pushrods... it's a more compact design as you don't have to stick the whole valvetrain on top of the heads.... it was easier to stick under the low slung hood of the Corvette without bulges. It's also a pretty good performing and economic engine that stomped the crap out of everything Ford made for years until Ford started using forced induction in the 2003 Cobras.

If I wanted horsepower, I'd probably opt for an LSX engine over most any modern engine.... I'll admit, I'm a Chevy guy, but I like anything that makes power and try to be objective.... Hell, I no longer even own a Chevrolet.

I worked in one plant for a little bit and I agree with you. I think it's much more of a culture thing.

Same experience here, have had several GM trucks with no problems. I still have a 1987 GMC with the original engine and transmission and still very reliable.

Don't forget to take into account that most fleet trucks are Fords, which means they get flogged hard by people who could not care less about the vehicle.
