Rear sag fix before it starts...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Offroad
    Hello all. I am new to the forum and I love it. I have a 2015 Tacoma Access Cab TRD Offroad with a A.R.E topper. I currently have a Prinsu cab and topper rack on the way and I will be putting a CVT tent on.

    My question is:
    Should I put on an add a leaf kit to compensate for the extra weight?

    I hate when trucks sit ass low. Just not sure how much it is going to sag. There will be all kinds of other extras in the bed for a month long trip to baja later this winter.

    I am planning on an Icon lift in the near future, but wanted to let some of the new rub off the truck before digging to deep in it. Any input is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    The AAL is a bandaid. How long is it going to be before you put the lift on? If it's going to be awhile, I would go ahead and get the AAL now. Just realize that it will wear out once the springs start wearing out. The more weight you have back there the sooner that will happen. I've run a 3 leaf AAL on mine with a cap and extra weight for about a year now. It's starting to sag. I'll be going with a new spring pack this winter.

    I had a single AAL before and it was stiff but then I put a shell on and it was more forgiving over bumps. You should be fine with a single AAL. You can also get progressives which rides better and leave in the overloads.

    3 leaf is too soft.

    Single AAL or new pack/airbags is the only ways to go, and IMO I'd get a new pack.

    3 leafs is on the soft side and that's why I recommend single with a shell until he can get a new pack. Been running on 3 leafs aal for 2 months now and have a single sitting in the garage just in case i change my mind.

    Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
    3 leaf, 4 leaf, it makes no difference. It won't sag at first but rest assured that it will, Jeep Cherokees were the same way and I had 4 of them for company trucks. You're probably better off waiting until it settles out. If you add a leaf now, it will probably be ass end high and ride like crap. If you wait until it starts to settle, it will be closer to the right height. I used to take my Jeeps to a local spring shop and they could customize the arch to get the ride correct.

    I had Firestine RideRites on my '06 and they were great, especially if you have an off road model, those springs bottomed the day I bought the truck. You will however sacrifice rear axle flex and you will jar pretty hard when going over speed bumps. My '13 and my 14' Sport suspension has been way better, it doesn't bottom even when towing, even without air bags. It's too soon to see whether the back end will eventually sag, but I'm guessing that it may.
