The low fluid symptoms and the effects of people that had there fluid levels adjusted were "placebo" effects. All of the problems people complain(ed) about here on the forums were just logic issues that mostly have seemed to be addressed by the the TSB. People ran with the fluid issues and made them something they were not.

My opinion/observation is that Toyota, maybe wants you to drive and be happy, dealer on the other hand don't care. They want to sell and make profit, and they want to service/repair and make a profit.
Like I said before, they don't like warranty work, they still get paid but it's different for them. Mechanic told me ones how it works but I don't remember, don't want to make it up.

The Truck drives quite a bit different after the update. Much smoother and more predictable. That plus all the annoying delays are gone.

Amen brother. Watch out though, you'll be accused of having no data and you will be dismissed as not as knowledgeable as the industry people.

I am completely disappointed with the shift point with this transmission. Just turned 500 miles on new truck. I live in hilly to mountainous area. I find shifting at around 1500 to 1700 RPM is too soon. Can't generate needed power at low RPM. So it shifts to the next higher gear and repeats a low shifting RPM as I accelerate. If I put my foot in it, which I have to, then it downshifts abruptly.

I looked up my VIN and it is not listed for the TSB. Anyone see the TSB listed for their truck?

I went to my dealership about 3 months back and told them about the R to D delay and they told me they tried to replicate the problem and couldn't.

Would I have to have them try and replicate the problem again (and succeed) in order for me to get the TSB?

Mine is listed but no body asked me any questions. I walked in, told them that I want TSB done and showed them pdf on the phone. Took 4 hours but it got done, I'm frkn happy! Already tested on familiar part of road and it works awesome!
Even tho when I called adealer yesterday and asked them about TSB I was asked what problem(s) do I have and I explained. She read to me TSB and said that my problem is not listed. Advised calling Toyota Corp.

Jesus christ...You and a few others giving me a rash of shit for stating that I thought the issues were not related to low fluid, and then demanding my credentials and supporting facts.

Don't worry, you can be right too.

I have not done the TSB done yet, but I have had my transmission learning completely cleared a couple time. After each time the truck drives SO MUCH BETTER... BUT, it usually only lasts about a month before it drives like crap again. Am curious to see how this reflash is after about a month of driving. Any initial good feedback is probably because the learning gets reset with the reflash, so i expect it to drive better. Lets see how long it lasts though, that will really tell us if this TSB really did anything

Mine had the no-upshift-in-cruise issue on the way home from the dealer, so that was not a learning thing. Also, my truck has driven better the longer I've had it, so I don't think this is true for me. I'm not saying you aren't experiencing what you are describing, but it's not that way for everyone.

You bring up a good point and I'll feel more confident this is whipped once we have more runtime. Given the fact that this is an EPA approved modification, I don't think they will be popping another change out anytime soon, so I think we get what we get for now. I'm hoping to get mine done soon.

So am guessing new trucks in still in production will have this TSB done already?

OK so I'm going to start off by saying I am a Certified Honda Master Tech. And yes I bought a Tacoma because the ridgeline is not my cup of tea. But anyway I know how the TSB things work and I took my Tacoma to my local dealer and informed them of the TSB number and the problems I am having. Well after the truck being at the Toyota dealer all day they called and told me they couldn't do the software update because they could not duplicate my transmission issue. Anybody else had any issues with dealers not doing the reflash?

Yup...I'm CZ5AN here....I have yet to take the Toy into the dealer and NOT looking forward to it. I hate arguments with dealerships.
Once done, how do we REALLY know ANYTHING was REALLY done though....unless we watch them load the new software, they could SAY they did it - and we don't really know...

"Where can we find the VDS code on our vehicles?"

To make sure your truck qualifies, check the 5 digits of your VIN starting at position 4. It needs to match one of the VDS codes in post #302. For example, 5TFGZ5AN.........

Read the TSB. It appears they have to write something on the sticker under the hood after doing it.
