    Drove the truck tonight:
The good: no death wobble so far, i had it up to 50 and hit a speed bump going 35 and it was all good. It wanders a bit, i dont know if the alignments off or its just the nature of a front shackle sas, trying to think back to my yj days. Drives ok with the 33s, effortless steering. Im going to put the 37s on it for the next test drive and see how it is.

The bad: bad oil leak, i think its the front of the pan. Is there any option for replaceing those tiny ass bolts that break if you tighten them too much? So ill be dropping the pan first thing in the am which will suck. I have a powersteering leak, i think its because my high pressure lines are twisted so im going to fix that. I also think my powersteering pump is leaking but cant tell due to the great input shaft seal explosion of last week.

I have a rant about FRORs extended brake lines, these lines fuckin suck! They leak like crazy down at the fitting that the banjo bolt bolts to. Its a seperate connection that wont seal. Im going to order some goodrichs and send fror some feedback. Terrible product, brake lines should not be something i always have to check the torque on and worry about. Garbage.

    :) Thanks

The wonder is typical for not having a panhard bar. The important aspect of the steering is the pulling.....if it does not pull to the left or right then consider that a blessing.

Banjo fittings....glad I don't have those. Mine are the FJ60 calipers so its the usual 10mmx1mm fitting. From my build link, I went a cheaper route than most....Napa....2 brake lines in series. No leaks. This I have done numerous times with other SAS builds and never been sorry for it.

Doesnt pull, well any worse than when it was ifs. Happy with the steering, not happy with my oil gyser and my steering line leaks. Im really starting to dislike atf. I should have went the fj 60 route however i thought i was going the cheaper route using my taco brakes lol.

I had a leak at the oil pan when I did my swap. It was 100% installer error, as I didn't completely cover the seal area with RTV. Definitely a pain in the ass to have to drop the pan and do everything again.

Weird to hear that about the FROR brake lines. I have them on my truck with no issues.

Don't do it even if you have the money for bling axles. You can probably build front/rear 1 ton axles for the price of one front diamond lol

Glad to hear you took the truck for a spin. Might have to go custom with those lines. Moar money!

Oil pan is fixed, i found studs that thread in and used those, no more bolts that break off if you look at them wrong. It was leaking due to my hackjob oil pan modding and not clamping down enough around the front of the pan.

As for the steering lines, thats tomorrows project. They are twisted so i think thats putting strain on the fittings, so i need to fix that. I drove it for an hour today on the 37s. I have a rear hub that decided to start leaking gear lube so i need to rtv that, and my ac doesnt work. I hope i didnt cut a line, so im going to recharge it and see what happens. Tomorrow after i fix my steering lines i hope to be able to flex it out and start beating on the wheel wells, setting bumps and hacking fenders.

Belly height is 23.5, not too bad!

1999Regcab: this truck will never see tons or axles besides these, it will be the scrap yard for sure. Its pretty beat down now after 10yrs of ifs wheeling, cant imagine what 5 or 10yrs of sas wheeling will do to it.

Allenfab: they are holding steady, however they have a potential failure mode at the banjo fitting that ill always be worrying about, so they are going away!!

Obligatory driveway poser shot coming soon...

23.5 belly height is actually great. That truck is sitting low with 37"s!

In terms of the truck receiving more abuse, It could go either way with the SAS. You might find that the SAS will make some things much easier, which means less abuse on the truck. Or you could go crazy by the truck's new ability and destroy it completely lol :D

Dunno about you, but I was at times anxious wheeling with IFS on the harder trails. Worried about blowing CVs, lack of articulation limited the number of lines I could take, hitting stuff underneath often because of lack of clearance, etc. Too much stress that did not make wheeling as enjoyable as it should have been on some trails.

    Post those poser pics!!

I would try anything ifs, the truck rarely broke thats why the bodies beat down. Matter of fact the only real reason i wanted to go sas was to get a front locker and the ifs parts were wearing out. Mechanically the trucks sound, its the frame thats falling apart. Its rotting out from rust and its bent in like 3 different planes, you can see it kind of in the attached pic.

Yea shes a low rider which is what i wanted, i want to be able to go offcamber and not feel like im going to die lol. My friend just measured his 80 and he has a 20" belly height.... on 40s!!!

Wow that looks awesome. Props on being different with the swap. What's your frame height? I have yet to measure my belly height but know it's lower than yours.

Thanks man, its a maddash now to get this wheeable and reliable enough to go drive 1000miles on friday. The project took about 3 months longer than i wanted and the budget aspect went out the window 3 weeks ago lol.

It sits 23.5" to the bottom of the frame rail, and the tcase crossmember sits about 2" below the frame rails.

20" belly height on 40"s? No way! Damn, that's ridiculously low for that big of a tire.

BTW, hope you knew that didn't need to do a SAS to install a front locker...didn't ya:luvya: LOL Just messin' with ya'

So you have a raisin there. It seems like you definitely had too much fun with the IFS:D The body of my truck has some battle scars here and there, but is not a raisin...yet.

Gotta love the low ride height of your truck. It seems like the driver side tire might hit the fender during up travel? Dunno, might the angle of the pic.

Looking good. With the dual cases and 37" you'll be in a whole different level of capabilities.

Holy Smokes! You're gonna test it out with a 1000 mile trip....and I thought I was the only crazy one out there. Take plenty of tools and eyeball your front wheel bearings( properly greased up). On the highway, you're dealing with constant wheels turning.....rear ds and U-Joints turning fast..... fan belts.....and so on.
Looking forward to the updates on the highway as you travel.

Haha mine went from a month to 3 months and the budget got thrown out the window too. Don't feel bad. 35s with a crawl box and 4.7 tcase and I haven't found much I can't do. Things that stop me is my driving limitations and not wanting to smack the body. Will Bob my bed soon though to fix that.
