    Hi everybody
    I have a 2015 with a tow package
just a question about towing ride height
I have installed a 2.5 levelling kit and put some bigger tires on the truck
    looks great and rides nice
    standard receiver from toyota
I do tow a trailer that is within the recommended weight for the truck
you would never know the trailer is there by the way the truck performs
the only thing is the truck dips at the rear end and you would think it was over loaded by the "look" of the stance
now is it cause of the leveling kit and tires ???
do I need to install the spacer kit for the back ???
bring the trailer hitch a little higher ???
tongue weight maybe move back a bit ???
an other quick question is when towing on the highway should it be in 4D
just a couple of thoughts I have and to get some insight

Bilstein 5100's w/front's set at 1.75", TRD exhaust, Colormatched grill, Illuminated 4wd selector switch, BAMF Bolt on Sliders w/kickout.
Firestone Ride rite airbags will cure the rear end sagging issue. Could also look into a quality weight distributing hitch.

Never tow in over drive ("D"), always tow in "4" or a lower appropriate gear. You can damage the transmisiom if you tow in overdrive.

+1 to firestone riderite bags, they will allow you to maintain rideheight with a load in the back.

    Bolded comment is 100% false.

So long as you know what to look for, towing in D is just as good as towing in 4. As long you are not constantly popping out of 5th lockup or hunting between gears. Now if you are finding that the truck is not staying in 5th lockup, simply pop it over to 4th.

The problem is that you leveled the truck, and now when the rear compresses under load it's nose high. The nose low factory stance is to prevent this from happening.

Air bags are the solution if you want to be level all the time. A heavier leaf pack is a solution if you don't mind rake when the truck is empty or not towing.

There's nothing ready wrong with being nose high though.

Problem is that you installed an unleveling kit, which makes it look like a dog trying to scratch its ass. Then add some weight to the back, and obviously it is going down... and not in a good way.

The solution: remove the crap you added to the front suspension.

He spent his money on his truck and guess what? He enjoys how it performs and was only asking a question because MAYBE he isn't a know-it-all phony.

    Get lost.

Do a search for Ride Rite Airbags and lift. The answer you seek is there. Many of us are lifted and tow regularly. The airbags are a very good solution to your problem.

    Is it?

    @gearcruncher

Also can be found in the owners's manual...
    • In order to maintain engine braking efficiency, do not use fifth gear (5−speed manual transmission) or sixth gear (6−speed manual transmission), or do not put the transmission in “D” (automatic transmission).
And again under the transmission section...
    • When towing a trailer, in order to maintain engine braking efficiency, do not use “D” position.

The reason the owners manual states tow in 4th not D is due to the idiots out there that dont know their truck and what its doing. They will leave it in D when the truck is much more inclined to unlock the torque converter and hunt between 4th n 5th causing unnecessary wear. LIKE STATED, if you can hold 5th lockup (if you know your truck you should EASILY be able to tell when its in 4th and 5th lockup) then you can tow in 5th aka D no problem. But if you can not hold 5th lockup, put it in 4th so the truck will not even try for 5th and stay in 4th lockup and not heat up the trans absurdly.

As far as engine braking goes, yes, USE YOUR GEARS, 4th 3rd 2nd n 1st if necessary depending on speed, this shouldn't have to be stated especially when towing, but it is because like stated, the idiots out there that dont know how to tow / know much more than put the truck in D and press the gas to make it go.
