If it is truly stuck in 4-lo and you drove it 3 miles home, unless that is 3 miles of dirt road or a straight line, I'd be more concerned about permanent damage. Call the dealer. They will tell you whether they want you to drive it in or have them tow it in.

To shift in to 4L, make sure you're in 4H, stopped and in neutral, then push and turn the dial to 4L, you'll hear a little thud or clunk if it's quiet enough in your surroundings. Also rtfm if you're in doubt, there's a plethora of info in there.

If the light is blinking I'd bet it's still in 4 hi. What happens if you stop the truck, put it in nuetral, and shift from 4lo to 4hi, then drive forward?

I've been messing with this thing for 3 hrs and nothing has worked. Sorry if I seem crabby but I can't believe this. I've owned 14 tacomas and never had one leave me this pissed.

You've tried all the right things and the truck wont shift, time to bring it in man. At least if you have it towed insurance should cover the towing bill...
