Really easy, 16x4ft cattle panels, plus put some plastic over them in the winter and you have a greenhouse

Wasn't sure where else to post this, so I'll give it a try. While visiting the Laguna Beach area yesterday, I came across this flowering tree growing wild on the beach cliff that I can't identify. Any guesses?

If I can figure out what this is and if it will tolerate the colder temperatures at my house, I'm thinking of planting one or two to start my "secret garden" area off the master bedroom.

It almost looks like a citrus of some sort, if you crush one of the leaves and it smells of citrus then you know. I'll keep looking to see if I can find a flower like the ones in the pic.

I've dug through just about every plant ID resource I have. I'm thinking it's not a native California tree.

Here's my backyard garden in phoenix. Not much happening except grapes, peppers and a few tomatoes with these dry 115 degree temps we are hitting everyday. I need to take those artichokes down even further but it's so hard to cut back anything remotely green in color:rofl: when you live in the desert

P.S. behind the door in that first pic:D is where my taco lives

Nice! I wish we could manage artichokes here, but without a dedicated greenhouse I just don't have enough of a season for them. I've tried them in the past and they were probably lemon-sized when we got a killing frost.

The artichokes grew great in phoenix this year. Our winter was very mild even for the desert. Here's my wife standing next to them last April. She's about 5'8"

Is there any fallen "fruits" of this tree/shrub? It looks like its producing something. Maybe look around and see if theres any type of old shells or something. I havent found anything yet in my google search.

Not exactly garden-related, but I got home yesterday to a peeping duckhouse, so apparently this happened while I was at work:

The girls are still sitting on 3 more eggs and refuse to move, so I suspect that there are more to come.
Tried to get a better shot, but the girls were in kind of a 'bitey' mood and kept nipping my phone so I couldn't get anything but blurry shots, lol.

Growing potatoes for the first time. They are also producing fruit which i hear is somewhat rare. They stayed laying over yesterday which i hope is normal.

Finally got a couple of garden shots from this season.
Beets are going absolutely nuts right now:

Cukes are finally starting to tip over and vine; they were stalled for a couple of weeks just doing nothing. Garlic is doing just ok; had a lot that didn't survive the up-and-down temps this spring.

Tomatoes have really taken off in the last couple of weeks; They're starting to crowd each other a bit.

The peppers are doing absolutely phenomenal so far this year; they're really liking this hot dry summer so far. Sunflowers are doing ok too. Another few weeks and they'll be tall enough to start providing some shade for the front windows.

Peppers are loaded with blossoms and small fruit already too. Best season I've had for peppers since we've been here.

I just found this thread. I wish I had more room. This is my first year trying anything. Tomatoes were top priority. Made a small raised bed, filled with compost/yard clippings/mulched leaves/potting soil, anything I read that was good for growing tomatoes. Started all my plants from seed.image.jpg

Seedlings in the middle of bed. Still moving them in and out of my shed at this point. Working on irrigation and a "hoop house" at this point.
