Microfiber brands and photos

The brush I have has metal bristles. It works well for when the microfiber gets matted together. I thought I was going to have to use the towels I rescued for utility duty but the brush brought them back to life. Not all my towels needed the brush. Just that one set.

1100 GSM is white and amazing! I highly recommend them. I use them to remove polish and wax, for detail spray, and have used them to apply Adams Guard and Gloss.

Those work fine in my opinion for a single use. I have found that if you drop one of those then you throw it away. Where the towels I use now I can wash them and the debris is washed away.

 

Funny. I was just thinking today- I wonder if I could use some kind of a brush to revive some of my older towels. Ill have to give it a try.

Well, I think I'm gonna throw down for some more Eagles. They're just so damn plush. Will wait it out for a Rag Co sale. Prob gonna have to wait for Labor Day now.

I do have a couple of Chincillas. I think I like the looser weave of the Eagles. The Eagles seem like they give up debris a little better. Not sure, but I also don't think the Chincillas are Korean? The Eagle is much softer to the touch even though it isn't quite as thick.

I picked up a 4 pack of the TRC Wizard towels. They're the exact same material as the Eagles but they're a 360 instead of 470gsm. And they have a silk border. I actually like them better than the Eagles for spray wax application after a wash. The Eagles tend to fold over. The Wizard is perfect and easier to control.

I noticed my Chinchillas leave lint on the paint when I use them with spray on wax. Guess I can use them to dust the house with.

 

My chinchillas matted really badly after a few washes. And like the Eagles, I just don't like them for spray and wipe applications due to thickness. They were ok for waterless wash but the Eagles are FAR superior. Much softer, too. The chinchillas are Chinese. I won't be buying them again. They ended up being a disappointment.

I will purchase more Eagles, Wizards, and Purplenality (and I don't think it's a coincidence-- they're all Korean). I still like the Creatures, too (Chinese). At $1.75 they're hard to beat. No linting either.

Seems like a great deal, but the negative reviews bother me... otherwise...it's really cheap if they are really that weighted MF.

Yep, you got the right one there. Wouldn't you know it, the price went up. The "blonde" color was $16 for 10 towels up until yesterday. The other colors were $17. But now they're all $20 for 10.

The Rag Co website still has them for $1.75 each. Honestly, for the price, you'll be happy. I've now had several TRC towels in my hand and on my paint. Top and bottom of the line. For the money, the creatures are a win.

 

That still is not to bad.. I'm hoping these Chinchillas will work decent removing wax. I like them to dry the truck after washing it then I use the spray wax. I'll just use the lower piled ones I bought on ebay to wipe the spray wax with now. I thought it may of been the Lucas Slick Mist I tried last weekend that made the Chinchillas lint. Don't think that now though.

Keep in mind that the chinchilla is two towels glued together. Apples to apples.... a creature folded once over is much thicker than the chinchilla laid flat.

 

TRC eagles are 480 GSM. The creatures are 365 (360) GSM... I know it's cheap at $1.75 a towel, but the eagles are $5 for 16x16 and $7 for 16x24. Compare to the super plush jr on autogeek for $1 more you get 600GSM. So the argument is why not just get everest at 1100 GSM on TRC? Why even consider the eagles? I generally like a 16x24 rather than 16x16...but if you get eagles why not get everest?

the creatures are cheap, but I wouldn't buy them you can visibly see they are less in density and when wiping down cars.... you tend after time to apply more pressure as you get tired and wanting it to get done...the more dense MF towels tend to absorb more and provide better cushion.

Again while the creatures are cheap...the negative review tend to worry me about buying cheaper product. I'm glad they work out for you...but try the higher thicker towels... I don't know how you matted your MF towels...but shouldn't be if you take care of them.

 

You ever consider using a more semi permanent solution like opticoat or cquartz finest? once applied properly...you don't have to wax anymore...just a boost once a year or so if you do proper wash techniques. I have a shit load of zaino stuff I stop using because having to do stuff by hand is very laboring and time consuming. There's new stuff that requires less work once you prep the vehicle right.

 

I find that I have to use more pressure with heavier towels, otherwise they tend to want to fold over on itself when applying spray on/wipe off products. That's why I prefer the Wizard (360 GSM Korean) for that application (same fabric as the eagle). I would never go to an 800-1100gsm (or larger than 16 x 16"). I just don't like that size/weight. I much prefer to finesse a smaller/lighter towel. Also, I think that the Everest is not Korean.

I'm not arguing. Just sharing my experiences.

 

Bottomline harpolith, if that works for you using the wizard towel... great. I just concern from using thinner harder MF thinking they were good because it's MF then I would have swirls. If you have good technique and you don't scratch...that's all that matter...doesn't matter it's thick or thin or small or big towel. I like the 16x24 as I wipe in sections and do 1 pass, so I need a larger towel.

 

Everest is Korean. Clearly stated on TRCs website. Not sure how you are having to use more pressure with heavier towel. I don't find that the case with the Everest 1100. It is my go to towel.

 

Yep, agreed on the Everest being Korean. I guess was thinking of the tundra.

The thicker towels just tend to gather when dragging across paint with spray on wipe off products if you don't apply enough pressure. Better I guess if you use a lot of product, but I tend not to. The wizard is the same material as the eagle (which is an awesome towel, I agree). But I really like the tactile feel of the thinner wizard for spray on product application and removal. It takes much less arm pressure. It's simple physics. Stack three of the 800's folded on top of each other to wipe and it's easier to visualize this effect. I do appreciate the higher GSM in some applications.

 

Are you guys folding your towels to get 8 clean sections? Or using the entire towel flat on the surface (so it's just one layer)? If that were the case, then yeah the higher GSM would be far superior. But when I fold the wizard, it's got plenty of cushion for me. I just placed another order... More Eagles, Purplenality, and Everest! Fun stuff.
