I'm still having trouble referring to the Tacoma front shocks/coils as "struts".....True "Macpherson strut suspension" has no upper control arm. I'm good with the term coilover....

i agree it's just how they are listed and reffered to so i figured less confusing. i'm kinda following along with what you were saying in the 1 thread. the spacer is ok for now it gives me the lift i wanted this ifs stuff is all still new to me. going to get the blocks out of the rear and then i'll worry about the spacers later

What shocks are you going with?
If you're getting 5100's, then I would mildly lift with the adjustable front shock, then change out the coils later when you have the moola.

 

at this point i'm planning on waiting and going with the ome 9000 sport shocks and ome coils and probably the 3/8 spacer to keep the 3" lift but who knows plans can change

 

It's a good choice on the rear suspension, the springs are crap and adding a block only adds to the potential for problems. The front is good but to get lift, the springs are the item to replace.
I am with Blue, I still can't call them struts, I usually say coilovers.

 

i listen to what you all say about the suspension and have met a tw member here who is experienced and has me keeping to only what i'll need and what will work. i ordered the wheeler's 3 leaf progressive aal and 2" extended brake lines. i also got all the stuff together to do the rear diff breather mod as i have to drive through a creek when i go hunting it was cheap and i thought useful

 

Breather mod was the fist thing I did. Made sense since the front ones are all raised.

 

FWIW, A real world review between OME and Bilstein shocks from Nick @Crom, who I've been following for great, sensible advice.

 

Nick is a great guy, he really does his homework.

The OME shocks are bilstein but the adjustable 5100s are better

Warm day here with it currently at 95 degrees /27 % humidity

Going to call my local Toyota dealer as they sent me a 60k mile service reminder . See if I can get that done sometime this week even though I only have 56k miles

Anyone have an idea what this service usually runs , just curious ??
