    Manual bros/broettes,

My 6MT TRD OR is arriving next week, and I've sat in other 2016 manual Tacos and the OEM boot/knob...leave much to be desired. I saw one other thread (Manual BS thread) on here with some aftermarket setup pics (below), and I'd like more pics for those that have done it. I especially like this one:

Post some pics or chime in, any thoughts welcome!

The red and black ring around the boot on that one is a 550 cord survival bracelet by the way. Keep one there in all my trucks.

25-30' of 550 lb breaking strength parachute cord braided into a bracelet. That one has a fishing kit woven into it.

    OK BACK ON TOPIC....

I've got a core shifters knob on mine with the boot and the ring just hanging there. It rattles a little when cranking the motor over, but other than that it doesn't bother me too much.

I think the 550 bracelet is for the automatic trucks!!

I kinda like my stock shift knob, haven't seen one I like better yet.

The stock shift knob looks like a botched circumcision.

The 550 cord bracelet was made for me by a good friend that was killed in Iraq it ain't going nowhere! I have 3 that he made for me one of them hangs around the shifter in each of my trucks, none of witch are autos.

Stock knob is goofy looking for sure, I will say I do like the feel of it though. Regardless it will get swapped out at some point. The shift knob/boot setup on these trucks is a little different then typical. The boot actually locks into the knob so people will just need to get a little creative.

Here's mine. Its a Raceseng shift knob from my previous WRX. Its very heavy! The heavier knob definitely improves the shifting feel. I just used a weird looking washer that I found at a local Ace to hold the boot down.

Is that just a rubber washer on sitting on top of the chrome ring?

Jeez, with all the pictures of the shifters, comparing the OEM one to a botched circumcision, and talk about the feel of the stick in the hand, maybe this should be posted under the Tacomaworld "Gay Interest" forum.

Yes. I forget what the type of washer is called, but it has a narrower part hidden underneath that the ring attaches to. Almost like a small coupling. Its not the best looking solution but for less than a dollar I'll take it!
