Or, you know, you could man up and admit you were wrong to just call out a guy positing information. This is an internet forum full of BS (if you haven't already noticed). The man can post about his experiences and the things he did because of them all he wants.

I'll never understand why people can't just leave and move on when they get something else, but whatever. Glad you found something you're happier with.

Who doesn't know that a fullsize truck with a v8 is better for towing?

Tundra best in class. Nah man. Tacoma yes, Tundra not by a mile. The F150 and Silverado are shoulders above the Tundra. I'm waiting to see what Toyota does with the next gen Tunrda in order to actually compete in the full size category.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
If I needed to tow, I would not have gotten a Tacoma. Tacoma's are great at a lot of things, but towing is not one of them. I keep my F-250 instead of using it as a trad for a few reasons, towing and hauling being one of them.

If someone is in the market for a mudsized truck the Tacoma is pretty much a no brainer, but when it comes to full size the decision is that more difficult.

I traded down from a 2014 Denali crew cab halfton to the Tacoma. Traded down in payload/hauling/creature comforts. That being said, I only tow a few times a year and I drive to work everyday. Im enjoying the smaller truck in traffic and parking.. I do miss the ac seats lol..

I don't miss trying to wash and dry that big mofo before the water spots set in.

Pretty reasonable to expect a truck with a 6500 lbs tow rating to be able to tow a 4200 lbs trailer...

I prefer the look of the Silverado to the Tundra. The Tundra does have a roomier interior. That's really the only major upside of the Tundra as far as I am concerned. I'd rather have 2500 Duramax Silverado as opposed to the Tundra

No offense to OP, but with dropping that kind of coin of a loaded Tacoma, that was one instance your tacoma struggled at 11,000 ft elevation.

I think you made the right choice if you plan on doing that a lot...

Any vehicle would struggle at those elevations especially towing. On top of that, you have your payload in the vehicle (passengers, luggage, gear, etc) on top of the 4200lbs...

I just don't understand how people blow money out their rear ends without thoroughly thinking a purchase... you just blew through taxes on 2 brand new vehicles, plus depreciation loss on the Tacoma...

    Insane.

Nobody's perfect and people make mistakes. OP even later on elaborated on how he researched and went about initially choosing the Tacoma over a full-size and his rationale to go back. Shit happens. Just seems like when people do stuff like that everyone on this forum automatically becomes an expert on everything truck related and gets pleasure out of belittling and trashing the OP. Unless you can exactly replicate the conditions you're going to be using the truck in, all you can do is do your research and make an informed decision. Doesn't mean it will always work out. I towed 3,000+lbs in my Tacoma from Denver to the Bay Area and thought the truck did respectably well going over the passes and at elevation, but wouldn't choose the Tacoma is that was a load I'd be towing regularly over that kind of terrain. But for the rare occasion that I would, it would be fine for me. Live and learn I guess, unless your a TacomaWorld member, because in those cases I guess you all already know all there is to know!

    I'd love a Duramax!!

If i was looking for a full-size truck i would of went Chevy no doubt even if not a Duramax.

I looked and test drove all the new midsize trucks i could before deciding on the 2016 Tacoma.

I wanted a mid-sized truck that was comfortable to sit in, i liked the look of, and drove well. My Tacoma exceeds my expectations!

I dont tow stuff often but I'm planning on buying a new ~20' boat when i save up enough and pay down my tacoma a bit. I pulled a buddies 18' with ease so I'm hoping the Tacoma pulls the 20 footer well enough as well.

Of course I'm in Florida... So elevation won't be a big factor in it...

The 3.5 torque isn't that far off from the 4.0 in the RPM range so they are basically the same besides riding a higher rpm range (<600 rpm) and/or lower gear. Asking a vehicle to do 60% of the tow load on flat surface vs a 6% grade at 11,000 is a very BIG difference and should have been consider before purchase. Literally 5 mins on youtube or 10 mins of math would have explained real quick. If you are going to spend +35K on a vehicle I would think someone would put a little more consideration on what you were towing and where. He also rated 60% tow of just the trailer but how many people were in the truck along with equipment in the bed can easily add to another 1000-1500 lbs. A tundra vs tacoma are 2 different class of vehicles which should be fairly simple to figure out.
