Last year for rifle it was absurdly warm (like 40s/50s in December in PA) and there were ticks crawling all over my clothes. I feel like if I start archery hunting I'd definitely have to treat my stuff with permethin haha.

    Right.
Last year I shot a buck with the crossbow in the mid -November rut and it was 64 degrees by the time I got it out. Had to do some quicktime skinning/quartering and get it chilled down. Poor guy was loaded with ticks too.

That sucks, at least you have elk, no Elks around here. Just mousses, and they hang out at the local Walmart!:hungry:

I find it funny birds make a huge racket, squirrels rustle around making noise, turkeys scratch around making noise you snap one twig or your chair squeaks and deer take off!

Kind of on topic if you have a walk in cooler do you skin the animal? Ive usually skinned the animal then hung it for a few days before cutting it up.

Always skin as early as you can. Cooling the carcass quickly is the most important thing in preserving the true flavor and not adding "gaminess".

And the deboning the meat!!!!!!. We soak ours in icewater for 24 hours and it makes it a night and day difference.

Well! I'm making the BIG change! I'm going lefty and my Mathews is not happy!
Because of a major surgery of having my right shoulder replaced, and missing out on a great deer last year do to not being able to deliver the shot when I needed to because of sitting in the cold so long & clothing. I've decided to convert to lefty after trying it on my current bow. Now before anybody asks, I am one of those fortunate/unfortunate people that do not have a dominant eye. I already shoot handgun/rifle ambidextrously. So the conversion was actually quit easy. It has definitely renewed my faith in hunting this year.
