This isn't meant to be negative, but I am forced to address your post. In particular, where you say that Tacoma "isn't there to haul your tractor on a flatbed".... Uhm... yes, it is. That IS what it is there for. In addition to other things, like plowing snow. Its a truck, its purpose is to work hard. One should not be required to buy an oversized american diesel in order to do a bit of work. After all, the other 98% of the time you use it, the massive diesel will be sucking down tons of fuel and making city driving borderline to impossible.

Now I will say that mine is a FOUR cyl, and it does a WONDERFUL job of (a) pulling around my tractor + implements, (b) flatbed full of driveway pavers, (c) plowing snow, (d) anything else that I've tried to do with it that are vastly greater than the printed limits would suggest it is capable of. So to me, it seems very strange when I hear of people having trouble doing this kind of work with the new V6, despite being over a hundred more horsepower and close to 80 more footpounds of torque. Mind you, the 4-cyl makes its peak torque at a lower engine speed, so I wonder if the new V6 exhibits more of sports car like power/torque curves? I.e., the 4-cyl makes gobs of torque all the way from 2000-5500 rpm, but does the 6-cyl need to be spinning close to 5000 rpm? My wife's car is a Subaru Forester, it is more powerful than my truck, and nearly as high of torque, yet there is no way in hell that it'll move even HALF as heavy of a trailer. Maybe a quarter. The engine just isn't configured for hard work.

The older V6 was basically 1.5x the 4-cyl. Same size of cylinders, just 1.5 times as many of them. The difference between the two engines was linear, right down to the power/torque curves. So if the new 3.5 is a "car" engine, then it is easy to see how people could be seriously disappointed in how it works compared to either the 4-cyl, or the old 4.0.

The 4.0 was 266 footpounds at 4000 rpm (the 2.7 is 181, at 3800 rpm). The new 3.5 is 265 at 4600 rpm. That's a pretty big jump in engine speed, and suggests to me that it has a very peaky power curve.

Now having said that, the wife's Forester, PERFORMANCE wise, is in a completely different league compared to my truck. So it isn't a bad vehicle or engine, it just has a different purpose. However, I have to question the value of a TRUCK that can't WORK.

If you don't like helicopters, then there certainly is a deep, childhood issue that should be addressed. :D

Poor OP. Lol.. he came in here to post some positivity and got the flamethrower ignited all over him. Lmao. Well, I normally enjoy BSing with all the members on here. As someone else stated though, when you start posting insults when they are totally unwarranted towards other members especially the guys who have called this their home away from home for years, there will be consequences. My few posts were poking fun but he took it too personal.
