I had to fight to get to the Rev range around town when I drove the auto but I'd imagine it is in that range if you are doing 65-75 on the freeway? I'm not sure.

Not that this helps, but I just came from new 2.7 Ecoboost, new. My new Taco is every bit as smooth. I'm sure there is some validity here for some, but I also think this vibrating deal is being exaggerated for some too. It's a truck. Not a damn luxury sedan. I have 285/70/17 with a 3/1.5 and mine runs smooth. Could be better over speed bumps, but it's a mid sized truck.

You might have a smoother new Ford or Chevy but I promise you will experience other issues more severe.

If I was in the general flatlands of Tucson, I probably wouldn't have had the issue as fervently as up here in Flag where the topography dictated shifting from 6th to 5th on slight upgrades, which put me in the rev range when trying to go 70 and, it was right there, and my truck just stayed in that zone....I also drive a lot on the Navajo Rez and, again, it is all up and down with the engine regularly going right to that range... Just a bad luck of the draw for me and where I drive...

I've driven to CO three times and UT twice. I just never found myself stuck in that rev range for long. Your vibe was worse than mine is so I just guess the effects more evident.

I earlier posted that I drove an SR5 that barely had the vibe. If mine had been like that SR5 that I was given while the engineers checked out my truck, I would have loved it....it was hard to find and barely noticeable when it was there....luck of the draw, I guess.

Mine has a noticeable vibration/buzz in steering wheel at highway speeds under load (applying throttle) I also feel it in the gas pedal. Why is it doing this? When I let off throttle I do not feel it. It almost makes my hands numb.

Because that's how they are. A team of people dropped the ball on the design and testing. I thought it might be a small subset of Tacomas with the issue, but when I test drove a brand new one on the lot recently built and saw the issue it was game over for me. It is a design oversight. Plain and simple.

So it is a normal characteristic of the vehicle....because of a poor design. Can it be fixed?

I don't know, I tried a new catback exhaust. Changed the characteristic slightly but was definitely not a fix. At my 5k I mentioned it and had a tech drive with me. He told me I was lugging my 4 cylinder engine at 2000 RPM on a flat or incline. I drive a 6 cylinder TRD OR 4x4 manual transmission. I said "oh lawdy, jesus take the wheel" and gave up.

It can probably be mitigated through different engine or exhaust mounts, but engine mounts are not a DIY make it at home sort of solution. It will take some trial and error and random fixes down the line to see if it is another component causing the issue. Like I said brand new ones are still coming off the line with them. It legitimately doesn't bother some people (I don't know how), so I am unsure of how many complaints toyota is getting.

It is a deal with it scenario for now. Right now my main concerns are the low speed rumbling vibration and differential howling. That absolutely can't make it past my warranty. The damage that causes can be really f'ing expensive.

Well I just went to Edmunds and saw the 2016 is getting beat up pretty good by consumer reviews compared to previous gen and the Twins

So I had my diff replaced and noticed it is already howling again ever so slightly (not as loud as it had become at 11k mi), but it is definitely there. Now I know what to listen for and others here have said they had theirs replaced and the sounds are returning. My guess is it's only a matter of time before I'm back in the shop again.

    Updating my previous post..

After another few hundred miles with the new magnaflow I can say the vibrations have greatly reduced to the point where I don't really think or care about them anymore. Strange how after I broke it in for a little while that the vibrations seemed to subside more. As others have stated this isn't a fix because I still can feel them, but they have been reduced significantly. Leads me to think the issue lies somewhere in the exhaust/cat converter. Until a TSB comes out... I'm satisfied. Love my tacoma.

Glad the magnaflow ended up reducing the vibes to something tolerable!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

    I'm pickin' up good vibrations
    She's giving me excitations

    Any real solutions yet?

Will Toyota reveal what the problem actually is , or
admit it is a problem ?

Mine (2016) has the buzzy vibration through the wheel , my friend didn't notice it
in his new Taco till I pointed it out to him ..
    He hates me now :)

At 50 - 54 MPH , 6th gear , the vibration actually pulsates on and off
    in < 1 sec increments,,,,

I was on my way with the exhaust resonance explanation , just dropped a K & N air filter in
and was headed for the MagnaFlow cat back next.

Before I order it I am making an appt with a transmission shop for an evaluation.
    I swear it sounds/feels more like a torque/tranny issue.

I have a hunch it's an issue in the driveline and not an issue with the exhaust but who knows

But its RPM related, not speed related.

OK so under throttle there isn't a different force being applied to driveline components?

I have the vibby's where everyone else does ,, 1800-2100 RPM,,, mainly.
    But
As I wrote above , I also get a pulsating vibby in the 50-54 mph range in 6th gear.
and without checking,, that's what 1200 RPM or so ?
I don't feel it at 1200 going up through the gears.

Torque converter/tranny is my uninformed call.
Exhaust resonance is Toyota Service Manager call..

    I'm on a mission .
