So.....I pull up for my reflash appointment at 7am sharp and the SA says "so you want the s/w update just because?" I've been to this same guy twice about this. He probably didn't remember, so I'll not be a jerk. I explained that I wanted the s/w update just because I have all of the symptoms listed in the TSB and it's all in my history.

Why would the dealer assume everything thing is just fine when I made an appointment for a repair? I usually get a survey after the service. This one is not going to be very flattering. I really don't appreciate being treated as if I'm a halfwit.

    Fingers crossed.

Anyone in the area steer clear of Toyota of Fort Worth. The SA's are very condescending and the service is pretty bad. Good thing we're not paying for the first 25k of service or warranty work because it's downright awful...

Hopefully the truck will drive better when I pick it up.

Just dropped off my new Tacoma this morning at dealer. Only has 311 miles on it and I just picked it up last Thursday; also my VIN is on the TSB.
Showed them the TSB, and of course he said my tech will have to re-produce the issue. I told him look, the truck is 4 days old, and if I would have know about the TSB, I wouldn't have signed or drove the truck off the lot unless this was done first. Told him I can come back every morning this week and waste his tech's time, or we can resolve this issue this morning. Also, mentioned if they can't "re-produce the problem" I can call corporate to get things resolved.

    **Update**
Just got the call... service guy said, "We updated the ECM according to the TSB. The tech took a look, and said that's exactly what it needs."

Also, had them take it over to parts dept. after the TSB update, and add the stock RS3200 Alarm & glass break sensor. And disable the seat belt chime, since they had to get out the techstream for the alarm install.

Can't wait to go back and pick it up!

P.S. Anyone in the Houston area, may want to take it up to Gullo Toyota in Conroe. Since they've now done one and seen the TSB, they may be more apt to do others???

I surprised my local service dept with this TSB this morning. Service writer had a puzzled look and said he would "see what he could do". He said it could take up to four hours but I said I would wait. About an hour later he tells me they could not replicate the issues addressed by the TSB but since it was just an ECM flash they did it anyway. Interestingly, he then proceeded to tell me that he has told potential Tacoma buyers to beware of these issues so he obviously was aware of them!

On the drive home it does seem more responsive with less gear hunting and smoother transitions between gears, particularly at slower speeds and when climbing hills. Initial impression is that it now drives way more like my 2005 did.

Just stopped at my local dealer. They claim they don't have the software yet and to give them 2-3 weeks. But I've had nothing but issues with this dealer when we've sent them toyotas to work on from our dealer

How does the cruise control behave? Does it act like a normal CC or is it still the abysmal Toyota version?

Which dealer did you go to? Dropped mine off at Toyota San Diego this am. Been dealing with these symptoms since October. They had me take it for a drive and are trying to reproduce the symptoms... Left the truck there and hoping for the best. Fingers crossed they'll perform the reflash but they didnt seem to eager to help. Wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't something I noticed on a daily basis..

Has anyone confirmed the uphill behavior when in cruise? Example: medium grade hill tranny comes out of lock up but then down shifts when it's holding speed just fine.

If this is only a software fix and people are reporting that they are happy with the results, "night and day difference", then how did Toyota screw this one up? Some trucks experience the problems and others did not. Did these other trucks get flashed with something else?

I got my truck in late April and it just got off the "bigger truck" with 3 miles on it. I had all the problems except cruz control hunting.

I'm psyched to see this... having all of these issues and coming up on my 5k service. Maybe they can fix my kazoo door seals and the flute whistle from the control arms. During a 10 hour road trip across windswept Nebraska crosswinds hearing the kazoo buzzing was unbearable. Hope I can convince them to check the ATF too, I definitely get a slipping feeling turning corners from a stop and going uphill and a bad reverse to drive delay when it's cold, also with the shift flare present too reminiscent of my old 5r55e ford exploder tranny. The biggest hurdle is to get any service tech to take a girl with long blonde hair seriously... I know a lot about trucks believe it or not :p

Tried to get my update this morning, I was told by my local dealer that they had a "corrupt file" and could not perform the TSB at this time. Very frustrating!!

Have a appointment Thursday for fix. I'm the first in my area to get this fix btw. Dealer had to do some digging to find paper work for software update. Service manager said no problem takes 1.5 hours see you Thursday....

Ive definitely felt the downshift gear slam when coasting to a stop while not being in ECT. Very concerning sensation.
