What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

So I've seen some reviews on these aftermarket mirrors. Do you guys ever experience shaking/rattling of the mirrors when your at highway speeds? Seen quite a few members post that they actually returned them because it was so bad.

 

I've heard that as well. I got mine at RockAuto, but avoided the cheapest ones. One mirror was fine, and the other had a slight shake at certain speeds. Tolerable, though. Used OEM mirrors from a wreckers will be over double the cost of a new aftermarket one.

BTW, here is a side-by-side photo of the 2 types of mirrors



Note that the larger/newer style mirror mounts with nuts rather than bolts.

I Hear that. I'm no electrical expert by no means but the PO had my headlights wired in with hopes and dreams. Was hacked in...funny part he told me he was a electrician!

 

Other than that and the spacer lift he had up front it's bearable. But things are changing now

 

i worked on a rear bumper for my pickup saturday night, ran out of time/materials but it will continue down the sides towards the tire once i cut the bed. its made from 2x4 tubing thats 1/4 wall with 1/4 wall c channel mounting it to the frame. should be plenty stout

 

Simple but I dig it...kinda like what you did with those pods as well.

 

I have bought them for my 97 and my 2000 model, I have not ever had any problems with them.

 

Thanks! The pods ended up in the tail gate because i didnt wanna have to make two sets of holes in two different bumpers, and they seem to be more up and out of the way in the tail gate

 

Some of the 98-00 came with the bigger mirrors. Most 2000 trd v6 came with the bigger owns from the factory. 01-04 trd v6 were the same size mirror just were electronically powered

 

They almost look like they'd kiss the bumper whenever the tailgate is down.

 

The gap between the tailgate and bumper when it's closed looks to be at least more than a inch or so. I bet it clears fine.
