I checked the engine cover. It is not the same shape is the illustration and the underside of it has an insulation blanket attached to it so there is no room for a sticker. It makes more sense to place it under the hood right next to the original manufactures label located in that same area.

The stickers themselves are generic, not specifically for this TSB, so I am sure they are used routinely for all types of mods. The tech is supposed to write on it with a permanent marker the mod that was done with the date. This informs any techs doing future work what factory approved mods have been performed on the vehicle.

So I'm new to the whole TSB scene. I have my appointment booked in for later this week, this will be covered under warranty, correct?

I'm just sitting here waiting. I hope they are performing the flash. It's been a while. Somebody dropped a lure, so that's nice

Yes, TSB is covered for free

Yes should be, especially if you are still under warranty. What kind of bike is in your pic?

The tsb allegedly makes it shift better but the sticker DECREASES torque by 1.00687 ounces when applied properly. The receipt is what helps you sleep better.

Well dealer held onto the truck for most of the day and called to say they couldn't replicate the issue... No flash performed.. Argued it but nothing.. Anyone in San Diego have success at their dealership? They also claimed they haven't had a single complaint about the transmissions.

I was surprised that, when I went in the first visit to top of fluid, the dealer WAS aware of the issues. And fluid level made no difference in hesitation.

That blows! What happened to "Customer is always right"?!? You go there with a particular complaint about a vehicle that you drive everyday, there is a verified solution to your complaint, but because they can't replicate during a five minute drive they refuse to hep you. Tell them to F off and go find yourself another dealer!

Nope. I asked and got a smartass remark from the SA about the TSB only being a few days old. I intend to go back and have it done at my next oil change.

When I talked to the dealer early last week he said tsb would not be available for up to 2 months. Then Toyota released it Thursday. I will see what happens when I drop it off tomorrow for that and other issues.

There is another TSB coming for the vibration issue. I wonder if he's confused that there are two, and was recently told about the one coming in about a month. Seems this one was released out of the blue and dealers didn't really know it was coming so soon if at all.

So they couldn't replicate the problem. I told him I drive on hills every day and that they need to drive it over hills. I complained that it doesn't shift when cresting a hill.

"The hills are too far away."

Im going to lose it if they don't perform the flash.

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere in the 21 pages of this thread. I deal with a GREAT tech and he checked my transmission fluid level after keeping it overnight at 3.5K. He said it was 1 qt. low which he added and reset the ECU. That was 3 months ago. So far it seems to shift fine and I never really noticed that much of a problem from the outset. Do I need to have the "flash" done? So far the tech (a rare guy) has done all the things I found by reading posts on TW such as the fluid level check, replacing rear passenger door seal that protruded out at the top, and has ordered the "plugs" for another TSB I read about recently. The only other issue I have now is a groaning/squeaking sound noticeable at very low speeds with the radio off. I was going to have him check that when he installs the "plugs" and I will ask him about the transmission TSB. BTW..I am not a "service hypochondriac"...he did the transmission check and seal replacement in one visit and the "plugs" (a 10 minute service) has yet to be done. I now have 7K on the truck and counting...

Again: Do I need to have the "flash" done?

I just called my dealer here in San Diego and was informed they couldn't do the TSB 0077-16 unless they could replicate the issue... They also claimed they haven't had a single complaint about the transmissions. should them the PDF with my VIN# listed. Called corp Toyota and had a case opened. Corp Toyota called them and told them to do the TSB update. I have an appt later this week to get work completed

Read the TSB and see if your VIN is on the list and go from there.

They told me they could not replicate the delayed shifting but they flashed the update because the VIN was in the right family. Idky the guy hassled me telling me it wouldn't be done

I took my truck into Big Two Toyota in Gilbert Az this morning to have the flash done. My SA said they did the update but nothing is referenced on my paperwork. He mentioned though only certain tech's were allocated to do the update and that everything should be smoother. My VIN was on the TSB mentioned and I was having 2 of the 3 issues listed.

I only drove it about 20 minutes but It did feel a lot different and the normal odd shifting seemed gone.
