When you go from 4wd to 2wd doesn't the 4wd kick out really hard:confused: and that couldn't be good for the truck.

It's actually pretty smooth. You can feel it for sure, but its very faint. You can't hear or see it in the video. I was scared to try that and just running 4x4, but one day about 1 year ago I was at the track and I saw this guy with an 08 supercharged tundra. He was running 13.9 and I went up and talked to him. He told me he ran 4x4 all the way down the track and sometimes would pull out to 2wd halfway. After I heard that I thought, if his truck is doing fine with 550 tq, mine should be ok with 3xx. That night is the night is the night I found out how fast my truck really was. I dropped a full second. Added more mods from there and dropped another full second etc etc

So when do you pull out? (.....focus children, clean thoughts)

Do you do it between shifts and what gear? Tell us what you've learned from doing it frequently.

I have only done it maybe 20 times total, I would have to go back and count all my slips.

I tried once to pull it out before 60 mph in 2nd, and it wouldnt release until 3rd, so now I do it in the middle 3rd gear only. Right around 70-80 mph. You turn the knob to 2wd and you hear it release right away. It doesnt suddenly feel faster or slower or anything. You just keep going like nothing happened.

i can say this, i have the same truck as werty, with 33's. i have a trd s/c, trd intake and exhaust, urd 2.85 pulley. i ran a 14.4 in 4wd in oct. my 60' time was 1.96. i was extremely impressed, and i now have doug thorley long tubes and from what i can feel, the mid and top end is so much better. if you search youtube, you can see his runs, his truck is insane. off the line it is a rocket ship. i know mine is and i am down on h.p from not having the mods he does.

i don't have a way to check, but from what i can see and feel, i have a trd s/c, trd intake, urd 2.85 pulley, longtube headers, and my truck feels and runs great. my gas mileage is right around 19 mpg per tank, i love the way it drive, i have no pinging or knocking, even if i run 87.

Can you post a pic of your truck and also under the hood? What's the total cost of these mods? Did you change the temp of the t-stat? To what? Why use a Y pipe? Why not dual exhaust? The APR 7th injector would indicate the use of NOS? What's that whining sound, the sc? What kind of MPG are you getting during daily driving?

knock isnt always audible....dont run that 87

Total cost is a few grand...I dont want to know:p. The stock t-stat is 190*, the APR is 170*. The Y pipe is fantastic. You dont need dual. The 7th is not used for nitrous, it's used for extra fueling needed by the extra boost and for cooling the intercooler purposes. The whining sound is the roots supercharger. Daily driving I see 22 city. Best Ive seen highway is 25 mpg.

He has a few big upgraded mods. The urd pulley itself is worth another 20-30hp. Once you have FI involved its really easy to up the power as long as the motor/drivetrain can handle it.
