    So to anyone who have done their install, around the :35 second mark of the video the maker says something about cutting a bracket right inside of the big hole that is drilled. Is this truly needed? Is this a simple feat with a zig saw?

    Sits somewhere around here as pictured. It's thin, maybe 1/16" thick. Can easily cut it with tin snips. I pulled out my dremel to make a cleaner cut.
