Others have said these already but I think my top
3 to chose from would be the Sig P938, S&W M&P Shield 9mm,
or the Glock G43, all 9mm, and all shoot great.
Little expensive and heavier but I have a Springfield EMP 9mm.
It has been a great shooter for me.

When it comes to caliber, I still remember the hot summer day I was out with my Motorcycle Club and, while stopped for gas and a water, one of my friends came up to me and jokingly said: "You still carry that piece of shit .380 on these warm rides?" I said I did, and he shook his head, exclaiming that the .45ACP was the only caliber worth anything and the 1911 the only gun worthy to shoot it. I looked at him, in his t-shirt, jeans, and boots and asked if was carrying his 1911. His response was: "Hell, no, no place to conceal it in this weather." He then pointed to his hunting knife. I smiled and said: ".380 for the win!" He got all flustered when the crew started laughing.

I like anything I can properly conceal that will protect my ass.....

Tru dat! Always carry the biggest gun you can comfortably and reliably conceal. Most of the time, for most of us, it's not a real big gun.

I carry an M&P 9c... I have a ruger LCP and it is great for deep concealment situations. If the 9c is too big (double stack) you can also check out the M&P Shield. It's a single stack. Not my cup of tea personally, but still a solid gun

Or find the medium ground that suits someones needs best. I found myself carrying less when I had a bigger gun. A bigger gun would do better in most situations, but it's not doing any good if it's at home on my nightstand

That's why I have a different carry gun dependent upon the occasion. And I never leave home without one unless I'm going to the bar or traveling in a not so friendly state or obvious country. M&P9, M&P9c and ruger LCP .380 are the three I carry. The 9c being the most common on I carry. Each of those three have their purpose and each one fits a different situation or outfit style

I think it was Clint Smith who said, "A carry gun should be comforting, not necessarily comfortable". Something like that anyway.

Touche. I carry my Shield everywhere I can. Unfortunately working on a military base has the downside of no firearms so I can't carry EVERYWHERE. Sucks, but it's just part of it. Agreed on the bar though. Aside from being illegal in a lot of states, guns and alcohol just don't mix.

The shields a solid gun, just not as comfortable with my big hands.

I really like mine. I had the sub-compact XD9, wanted somwthing bigger and got a G22, and then wanted something small again to comfortably carry in hot FL weather.

I'm a big 45 fan...duh! But not for EDCC. I'm 5'11 and 160 lbs soaking wet so even a compact/carry 45 (like my P220 Carry and Compact) just feel too cumbersome.

I'm a big Sig fan and I'm comfortable with most of their platforms, so I went with the P938 for EDCC. I don't knock other major manufacturers as most are of high quality and work well for others. Like Glocks....they're awesome, but just feel funny in my hand.

I guess my point is to choose a firearm that you're comfortable with and become proficient with it. That matters more than brand/caliber.

Lots of information! Great! My dad has 2 9's and I love them both. He's got a 380 and I hate that thing. I've done plenty of time with both, so I wanna say I'd like to have a 9. I haven't shot the shield or the SW 3.1 but I held both as well as the Glock 43. I loved the feel of each of them. I'm leaning towards the shield or the 3.1. As far as practicing under pressure, how do I do so? I plan on taking a tactics course after the concealed class. Is there more I can do?

Absolutely, I'm leaning towards S&W shield or 40. They both felt so dang comfortable. My deciding factor will be quality. They're both the same brand, but based on reviews is what I mean. Can't risk a jam in a tight spot. My .22 LR rifle jams a lot. I don't know why either.

Both good choices...can't really go wrong with either.
